About Your Position:

As a Medical Assistant, you will work as a member of a care team to provide care and support to patients under the direction of a physician or mid-level provider. Your daily responsibilities will include the following types of things:

Greeting and preparing patients for their visit with the provider by obtaining and recording their vital signs and other information such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem

Assisting with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures such as venous and capillary invasive procedures for blood draws, intradermal (including skin tests), subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

Administering medications and vaccinations

Managing patient flow, ensuring enough time for patient and family education

Preparing and sterilizing instruments and maintaining equipment and patient care areas clean and orderly

Scheduling patient appointments and other administrative duties as needed

Actively participating in continuing education, required meetings and committees as requested

May perform medical scribe duties under the direct supervision and review of the attending provider and in compliance with the FMG Medical Scribe Program Policy.

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and completion of a Medical Assistant certification program at an accredited institution that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.

One year experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

Washington State Certification as a Medical Assistant-Certified.

Must have a current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain it within the first 30 days of employment.

Essential Functions: * Provides assistance in the supervision of the community operation along with training, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations of all staff members. * Works closely with health services director in the nursing services department making sure the needs of the residents are met and helps in the development of service plans that meet the required state codes and company policies. * Ensures that all confidential records of the residents and staff meet federal and state regulations and company policy and procedures. * Works with the community relations director to ensures that census expectations are met and that the resident admission process documentation is completed in a timely manner, meeting established policy and procedure. * Assists in the recruitment and retention of qualified staff throughout the residence, making sure background checks, reference checks and licenses are cleared before the employee is released to work on the floor. * Participates, and at times conducts the weekly residence management meetings when assigned the responsibility, in the morning stand-up meetings and monthly all staff meetings. * Motivates employees through staff appreciation, recognition, and incentive programs. Promotes positive employee relations, addresses concerns timely and resolves grievances as quickly as reasonably possible. * Monitors operations of the community on regular basis and prepares quality review audits and monthly variance reports. * Maintains and facilitates open lines of communication between corporate, regional and residence staff. * Assists in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports in accordance to company policy or federal/state regulations as assigned by executive director. * Works to resolve issues identified by residents, family members, and staff or outside representative. Keeps executive director up-to-date on developments. * Works with the maintenance director to ensure all property and equipment is maintained in good repair, clean, free of trash and litter. Ensures that routine safety inspections and monthly fire drills are conducted on a routine basis. * Shares weekend Manager-on-Duty responsibilities. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: * Two-year Associate Degree and a minimum of two years working in geriatrics or three years in a management position, with experience with budgets, staff development, training and scheduling. * Ability to creatively problem-solve in both resident care and employee management situations. * Additional coursework in management are helpful. * Able to communicate effectively in English with all levels of the organization and with residents, their friends and family, and with members of the community. * Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer skills required.
