What you will be responsible for:

  • Patient care

  • Clerical care

  • Adhere to department protocols

You may be a fit if:

  • Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required

  • Registered or Certified Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a community college course.

  • 1-5 years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant preferred

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection current experience required.

  • EMR experience

  • Current CPR or BLS certification required

  • Current health records with appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field required

  • Ability to work at multiple locations upon the business need

  • Ability to lift, pull, push manipulate equipment and patients which requires strength, gross motor and fine motor coordination.

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and operate a computer.

  • Enjoy change and being busy

VIEW JOBS 10/13/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-01-11T00:00 Description: Positions Location: Lansing, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: Provides basic nursing services for the treatment and care of wound clinic patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse and clerical service under the direction of the department manager/assistant manager or direct appointee. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. * Greet and interact with patients and visitors in a professional manner and direct them to appropriate personnel * Answer department telephone in a professional manner and refer calls to appropriate personnel as necessary. * Maintain files, obtain appropriate authorization forms for service, release or transfer of records. Copy records, pull files, prepare charts, forms, letters, scheduling of patient visits and collection of appropriate insurance authorizations and patient copays. * Collect pertinent data and process patients for admitting or discharge services following established guidelines, entry of physician orders (procedures/tests/preps) and patient charges into information management sytems in accordance with hsopital policies and procedures. * Assists physicians with patient surgical scheduling or treatment referrals and in obtaining laboratory results, diagnostic studies or other requested information. * Operates various standard and/or automated office equipment; clinical equipment under the direction of a Registered nurse. * Under the direction of a RN or provider, assist with assessment of patients condition, prepare for examination, including treatment tray set ups, record current patient data. * Assist HBO tech in performing treatments (inclusive of Hyperbaric; as needed basis; and after completion of an approved Hyperbaric wound training course) and documents care given in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. * Responsible for overall cleanliness and disinfection for each patient treatment room in between patients/treatments. Set up for new treatment as required; maintaining equipment, supplies and environmental safety. Restock inventory assuring supplies necessary to facilitate patient care/treatment. * Administers medications, performs diagnostic procedures and treatments in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. * Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and completion of mandatory requirements. * Assists with orientation and training of new Caregivers and acts as a resource person Job Requirements General Requirements • Current Certified Medical Assistant status or required certification within 3 years of hire. • CPR or BLS certified Work Experience • Minimum of one year recent Medical Assistant or similar experience in a health care office/clinic setting. • Preferred - Acute or Outpatient wound care experience Education • High school diploma, GED or successful completion of 12 grades combined with continued enrollment in early college program • Completion of National Healing Institute Principles of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine training course within 6 months of hire Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Demonstrates computer, insurance, and medical terminology knowledge. • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in her/his assigned service area. • Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and peers/other caregivers Sparrow Health System is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
