To perform basic tests and procedures under the close supervision of medical and allied health staff.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide execptional patient service

  • Stock and maintain exam and treatment rooms

  • Perform ancillary testing

  • Instrument pre-cleaning and stocking

  • Calibrate, clean and maintain equipment

  • Clerical duties

  • Triage patient calls

  • Obtain patient history

  • Instill dilation drops when appropriate

  • Schedule appointments

  • Input of patient information

  • Scribe for physician

  • Communicate delays to patients

  • Perform visual fields and other minor patient testing

  • Other duties as directed by supervisor.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and 0-1 years of experience.

  • Respectful and compassionate attitude

  • Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity

  • Keyboarding skills

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team setting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Demonstrated active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Formal MA program

  • Associates Degree in Health area

  • Experience in field of ophthalmology.

  • Experience with Michigan Medicine's electronic medical record systems.

  • Certification as a medical assistant

  • Experience working within a large, complex healthcare setting.

  • Knowledge of university policies & procedures

Work Schedule

  • Monday- Friday

  • Dependent on Clinical hours, may require 11:00 am to 7:00 pm some days of the week.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Clicking "Apply Now" opens the link in a new window.Job Summary The Internal Medicine's Pod D (Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases) clinic located on the 3rd floor of the Taubman Center is currently seeking a Medical Assistant float to assist in the delivery of patient care in their busy outpatient specialty clinical office setting. Primary role will be to ensure patient flow in both Infectious Diseases and Gastroenterology clinics, providing clinical assistance by taking vital signs, documenting appropriate info in MiChart and assisting patients. Also, required to work directly with nursing as a Nurse Assistant. Responsibilities* Adhere to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, and consistency through sharing information and resources with others. Documented history of excellent attendance and punctuality is a must; effective time management skills/consistently using available time effectively. Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal & communication skills are necessary. May be required to cross cover other areas and work overtime. Strong attention to detail while working with minimal supervision is needed. Assist in the delivery of direct patient care in a busy outpatient specialty clinic setting. Demonstrate ability to complete a variety of tasks independently; patient flow, take vitals, enter pertinent information into MiChart, assisting patients with mobility restrictions (e.g.: helping patients in wheelchairs on to the exam table), assist with procedures, assist patients with O2 needs, and administer injections. Assist with phone calls and creating messages for appropriate nurse teams for patient needs outside of clinic visit; prescription refills, test results, etc. Maintain supplies, clean and stock exam rooms and staff rooms. Assist providers and nurses regarding patient concerns, issues, and questions. Individuals must be flexible to assignments covering both divisions within Pod D. Required Qualifications* Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program and/or previous patient healthcare experience. Able to work in a fast-paced, customer friendly environment. Possess a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) credential. Adheres to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability, flexibility and consistently shares information and resources with others. Works well with minimal supervision and possesses strong attention to detail. Documented history of excellent attendance and punctuality. Effective time management skills. Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal and communication skills (ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, seeks constructive approaches to resolving workplace issues). May be required to work overtime. Medical Assistant: 0-1 years of experience Medical Assistant Associate: 1-3 years of experience Desired Qualifications* Previous experience in an Ambulatory Care clinical setting as a Medical Assistant. MiChart experience. Clinical data entry experience. Lab monitoring programs knowledge. Knowledge of University and Department of Internal Medicine policies and procedures.
