Medical Assistant

Job Purpose: This position serves to provide care to patients under the direction of a medical practitioner in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares charts for upcoming visits and ensures all necessary forms are completed, reviewed, and accepted into patient's chart

• Greets and rooms patients

• Performs delegated medical tasks and procedures:

• Captures vitals, medical history, reason for visit, and documents in patient medical record

• Performs visual acuity screening as part of a routine physical

• Administers injections

• Assists provider with procedures

• Performs blood draws, collects specimens, performs urine drug screening, and communicates results

• Cleans exam rooms between appointments

• Stocks exam rooms with required inventory and disposes of expired supplies and biohazard waste

• Troubleshoots patient issues with assigned provider

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

• Completion of Medical Assistant certificate or CAAHEP accredited program

• Medical Assistant or AA degree in health-related field preferred

• Six months of healthcare experience preferred

• Valid and current CPR, First Aid Certification, and an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance card (Denova will assist with Fingerprint Clearance Card upon accepted offer.)

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Knowledge of, and ability to use electronic record keeping systems (EMR, billing software, insurance carrier portals, spreadsheets, etc.) preferred

• Bilingual a plus, not required
