For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: reviewing and processing beneficiary travel vouchers/claims; determine eligibility for, and entitlement to transportation benefits, determining correct mileage payment, auditing surveillance, validating and processing for payment to contract and non-contract vendors, ensures that all eligible applicants are registered and enrolled, and that relevant demographic information is current and entered accurately.You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. The MAA performs a wide variety of duties within Benefits and Eligibility. but is primarily responsible for reviewing and processing beneficiary travel vouchers/claims; determine eligibility for, and entitlement to VA special mode transportation benefits, determining correct mileage payment, auditing surveillance, validating and processing for payment to contract and non-contract vendors. Claims for VA special mode transportation are received in many forms including in person, by mail, by telephone, and email. The MAA must provide guidance to VA staff and Veterans on the correct regulations and guidelines governing the beneficiary travel program. The Medical Administrative Assistant also ensures that all eligible applicants are registered and enrolled, and that relevant demographic information is current and entered accurately in the VistA system. Applications for VA healthcare are received in many forms including in person, by mail, by telephone, electronically on-line, or may be based on a referral from another VA Medical Center. If incomplete applications are received, the Medical Administrative Assistant has the primary responsibility to contact applicants through whatever means available to facilitate accurate eligibility determination and successful enrollment. Information obtained serves as the basis for determining eligibility and access to multilevel and diverse healthcare, the Veteran Priority Group assignment, bill preparation and collection for billable episodes of care, Co-Pay exemption status or Co-Pay obligations and other medical center administration issues as mandated by law.
