JOB SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, the Urgent Care Medical # Administrative Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care. #The Medical # Administrative Assistant communicates with physicians/managers/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient#s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision. #Assists with patient care, point of care testing, DOT exams, walk-ins, Testing Center, Occupational Health. The Medical # Adminstrative Assistant will be trained to register patients, collect co-pays, answer phones and other clerical duties as assigned. This position will require exposure to environmental conditions.. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Professional Practice Adheres to organizational policies and procedures.

Collaborates with other departments in a professional manner as needed to provide patient-centered care. Demonstrates effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills. Adheres to professional guidelines for practice such as defined by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice.

Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques including non- pharmacological techniques. Includes patient and family in all aspects of pain management through on-going education about pain, assessment, treatment and common barriers to adequate management.

Cleans # prepares room, equipment and supplies as dictated by a particular examination or patient#s needs. Assists with scheduling, appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures. Orders and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment as directed.

Maintains patient files, records and other information. Adheres to confidentiality requirements. Receives and prepares patient for examination and treatment as directed.

Obtains and records history and vital signs. Charts and documents in medical record. Assists physicians and non-physician providers in preparing for minor procedures and physical exams.

Performs minor procedures to include but not limited to stitch and staple removal, application of dressings, splints, casts, etc. Functions as liaison between the patient/family, physicians, other healthcare providers and administration. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.

Trained in drug screening collection and processes. Trained in DOT processes. Skilled in facilitating Worker#s Compensation cases and case management.

Knowledgeable in Infection Control, TB, Blood Borne Pathogens, and hazardous waste plans. Administers oral medications, intramuscular injections, vaccines, therapeutic and topical medications, and follows the ten medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Once competency is completed, may perform lab draw, intravenous (IV) starts, and administration of IV fluids.

Performs Point of Care testing after obtaining specimens to include: throat, nasopharyngeal, nasal swabs, blood, urine, and wound cultures. Assist with answering phones and route appropriately/take action as needed. Screens incoming telephone calls for appropriate referrals to nurse, physician, and/or non-physician provider.

Assist with scheduling patient#s appointments. Assists with Occupational Health record keeping, scheduling, faxing, scanning, emailing as needed along with any other duties as assigned. Provides instruction to patients as directed by physician, non-physician provider or documented in policies and procedures.# Cleans and disinfects equipment per SMH sterile processing guidelines.

Quality Assists with patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Completes documentation that meets current standards and policies. Performs treatments and provide services within scope of practice.

Communicates appropriately and clearly with all health care team members. Provides care appropriate to disease condition and age of the patient within scope of practice. Assists nursing staff with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills within training and scope of practice.

Provides timely reports of all events such as near misses, adverse events, patient/family complaints, and any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care. Service Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicates with social service/discharge planner regarding both in hospital and post discharge needs. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations. Performs proper telephone etiquette.

If transferring a telephone call, announces the caller and briefly explains the situation before ending the transfer. Communication with patient on expectations, e.g. wait times. Able to assist with patient service assistance needs as necessary and provide service recovery, e.g. coffee cards, lunch, gas cards.

Distributes hospital specific literature. Knowledge Proficient in basic patient care and treatment, planning and evaluating according to MA level. Competent to perform routine, non- complex aspects of patient care, treatments and procedures.

Safe pharmaceutical handling requirements and guidelines. Application of personal protective equipment (PPE) for patient and staff safety. Pharmacology specific to department.

Orders non-stock supplies through the Material Management computer system. Attends and actively participates in departmental staff meetings and committees as requested. Completes all mandatory education; participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization.

Basic laboratory specimen handling and processing (urinalysis, blood sugars, etc.) Assists with orientation of new personnel. Adheres to patient safety goals and standards. Participates in Process Improvement/Quality or Risk related activities within the department.

Able to identify departmental risk or enhancement and offer solutions for improvement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education / Experience / License and Certifications: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.

One year experience in the medical field, required.# BLS certification, required. Drug Testing Collection certification required within 12 months of position start. Breath alcohol testing certification required within 12 months of position start.

Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications Medical terminology course, preferred. Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE), preferred. Additional Skills Ability to effectively communicate in English, both reading and writing.# Multi-line telephone knowledge.# Computer knowledge.# Ability to operate designated equipment as specified included computer keyboarding.# Basic clerical training, including basic filing procedures (both numerically and alphabetically).# Ability to work under pressure with time constraints.# Basic knowledge of medical record content and sequence.

JOB SUMMARY

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service while assisting in the collection of client and patient outstanding balances, and posting of monies and adjustments from a wide array of pay sources accurately and timely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrates the ability to assist patients with billing problems and questions.

  • Able to meet high telephone demands and return voicemails in timely fashion.

  • Responsible for complete and organized record keeping of cash boxes, credit card transactions and posting batches.

  • Reviews, validates and posts payments as received, insuring such payments are posted to each account appropriately.

  • Post electronic and non-electronic payments, processing daily business transactions including non-patient revenue.

  • Communicate professionally and effectively with internal and external contacts.

  • Greet all patients, staff and community members upon presentation.

  • Update patient registrations and verify eligibility.

  • Assist in distribution of incoming mail.

  • Make daily deposit to bank.

  • Reconciling and closing batches accurately and timely.

  • Ensure appropriate use of adjustment codes and activity codes to allow for appropriate workflow and trending.

  • Escalate unresolved issues appropriately and recommend solutions to minimize future problems.

  • Assist with training of new employees and promote teamwork within department.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of hospital billing processes and all related department policies.

  • Prepares patient itemized bill upon request, explain charges, payments, adjustments.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographics, medical and financial information at all times. Maintain confidentiality of all company and client information. Ensure proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adheres to all HIPPAA rules and regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department / organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.

  • Course work in business math or bookkeeping or one year of college, preferred
