Responsibilities
Trains, observes, and certifies a state-wide team of high-performing mediators from all professional backgrounds, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.
Provides strategic and operational guidance on employee mediation and conflict resolution policies, programs, and procedures based on the laws, rules, and standards set for and by the Civil Service Division.
Ensures that the State Employee Dispute Resolution Program functions and programs are compatible with existing laws, regulations, directives, and orders.
Ensures that the State Employee Dispute Resolution Program mediation programs are applicable to the type of dispute reported.
Builds and maintains effective relationships with professional or governmental organizations such as the Oklahoma Public Employee Association, Oklahoma Correctional Professionals, Oklahoma State Workers Union, Dispute Resolution Advisory Board, and Oklahoma Supreme Court Alternative Dispute Resolution System.
Serves as the designee of the Civil Service Division Director to approve/disapprove all mediation agreements before dismissal from the Civil Service Division court process is considered.
Consults with state agencies about the proper setup and function of internal agency mediation programs.
Acts as a neutral third-party mediator which includes explaining how the mediation process works, communicating with all involved parties to gather information and helps the opposing parties work through their differences.
Coordinates meetings between certified mediators, trainee mediators, locations, and parties involved in a dispute to hold a mediation session.
Maintains paperwork regarding the mediation process for each case, gathers signatures for consent, drafts mediation agreements, tracks mediator continuing education credits, and retains paperwork for auditing purposes in compliance with governing laws.
Researches, interprets, and applies laws, administrative code, policies, and standards for application in the Civil Service Division Hearing process and the State Employee Dispute Resolution Program.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position works in a comfortable office setting in front of a computer for a large percentage of the workday.
The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree.
2+ years in mediation management.
Oklahoma Supreme Court Certification in Civil Mediation.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess
Human Resource experience
Certified Civil Mediation Trainer Certification
