Medical Assistant Overview

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and monitors patient appointments for provider visits, and procedure(s).

  • Delivers patient care as delegated by the RN to assigned patient population, or individual patient.

  • Communicates effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Provides patient instruction as delegated.

  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level of population served.

  • Performs other duties including Performance Goals developed by manager and employee and reported in the employee's Performance Review as part of UMPhysicians' Performance Management tools

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited school.

  • Medical Assistance Certification or Registration from an accredited organization (American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA) or American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)). If not certified, must attain certification or registration within first year of employment from an accredited organization

Medical Assistant Overview Key responsibilities include: * Supports and assists provider or authorized practitioner with patient examinations, treatments and/or procedures including but not limited to: Obtaining vital signs, administering injections recording patient's medical history and other relevant data. * Prepares examining areas and patients for examination, procedure or treatment by a provider or authorized practitioner. * As a health care advocate, supports patient focused care and provides patient instruction. * Works with the clinic team and UMP as a whole to create a culture of empathy, healing, and continued education. * Performs administrative duties: schedules, coordinates and monitors patient appointments, admissions and/or procedures, organizes and maintain medical records and performs business-related tasks such as procedural/diagnostic coding, and prepares insurance forms for submission. Minimum Qualifications: * Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school. * If not certified, must attain AAMA certification within one year of employment.
