Quality Control/Reputation Protection

  • Maintains broad oversight of the front-facing information, visual display, and functioning of the HGSE website and social media channels.

  • Oversees staff effort to maintain the smooth and effective operation of HGSE's Content Management System.

  • Establishes and maintains productive collaboration with HGSE's information technology group, which provides the server and back-end support for the website.

  • Employs metrics and analytics to ensure efficacy of all online and offline communications programs.

  • Leads the effort to facilitate School-wide communications, branding, and messages

  • Provides final edit and sign-off on all significant communications and marketing pieces (Ed. magazine, admissions, and development pieces).

Liaison/Representative within HGSE and at the University level

  • Builds effective relationships with a broad range of members of the HGSE community, provides guidance on a wide range of publication needs in both print and electronic media, and coordinates use of constituent data with other HGSE departments

  • Serves as the point person for faculty engagement; meeting with them, understanding their work and needs, translating those needs to our communications and marketing team, and maintaining open lines of communications to report successes and cultivate future collaboration

  • In collaboration with HGSE Research Center leaders and their respective communications staff, ensures integration and consistency with HGSE' overall brand, messaging and strategic objectives

  • Strategically promotes services and capabilities of the Marcom team to faculty, in order to encourage collaboration and strengthen the overall brand success of the school. Helps faculty to develop communications strategies and matches with the capabilities of Marcom.

  • Works with leaders in admissions, development, executive education, and the centers to understand their unit goals and help translate them into actionable Marcom work

  • Presents at meetings to update the community on Marcom work

  • Serves as HGSE communications representative to the university, meeting regularly with senior colleagues at Harvard Pubic Affairs and Communications and colleagues at other schools

Specific activities relative to the job function could include: Independently performs, verifies, and provides feedback on complex and varied services including, but not limited to media preparation, laboratory duties, and troubleshooting, for a client base that can include Research and Development, Early Discovery, Pre-clinical development and Quality. Responsibilities: * Perform complex calculations based on Molarity, percent by volume, dilutions, ppm, and ppb * Prepare high quality specialized media, including buffers, microbial agar plates, mammalian cell culture media, and antibiotics * Perform specific tasks associated with media prep, including but not limited to pH titration, osmolality adjustment, sterile filtration techniques, and aliquots * Verification, calibration, and use of common and specialized lab equipment including, but not limited to magnetic mixer, hot plate, micropipettors, autoclave, balances, laminar flow and fume hoods, pH and conductivity meters, osmometers, Blood Gas Analyzers, vacuum filtration, peristaltic pumps, and Nitrogen gas lines * Verification of peer calculations, technical documentation, equipment log books, and approval of completed documents * Technical writing of all media prep documents in standard Media Request procedure format. May use electronic document database to author, route, and review technical documents * Perform equipment verifications and calibrations following customer and manufacturers protocols * May track lab equipment information including calibration schedules, open work orders, and equipment status using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CCMS) * Promote a safe work environment through various safety initiatives within functional area * Participate in individual or group projects that can include, cost savings analysis, learning groups, writing job training methods, and leading team meetings * Can engage in training activities with new-hires when working in conjunction with a Site Supervisor * May prepare media for shipment for off-site use, including classifying media hazard category and providing required MSDS * Operate multiple software programs used in sample order fulfillment * Weigh and dispense solid compound samples used for research * Prepare solid compound samples for shipment to additional sites * Daily work with toxic and unknown solid compound samples Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: * Must possess a minimum of a Associates degree in related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred * Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills * 0-3 years of progressive relevant experience preferred * Displays a high level of confidentiality for both customer and Thermo Fisher Scientific * Must maintain Thermo Fisher Scientifics' Four-I Values * Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred * Experience in GLP/GMP environment preferred * Proven excellence in customer service skills * Detail oriented, problem solver, promotes team environment * Computer/software skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this job.
