Job Description

The Media Systems Engineer II is responsible for managing and developing the company's Avid MAM. The Media Systems Engineer II will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to the production and distribution of content across various platforms. Job Duties:

  • Supports the development of solutions that utilize our existing media systems to meet business requirements, helping to identify technological gaps and opportunities.

  • Collaborates with the Media Systems Team and other departments within Operations & Technology (O&T), contributing to the execution of designs and supporting our business partners at Telemundo and NBC Universal.

  • Utilizes project management methodologies, such as Agile, to organize tasks and ensure the delivery of projects that align with business needs.

  • Participates in documenting and analyzing user stories/requirements, acceptance criteria, and success factors to ensure proposed solutions are effective.

  • Assists related teams in meeting infrastructure requirements and participates in leading support responses and escalations for system issues.

  • Supports change control processes for all media systems, including coordinating outages, deployment windows, upgrades, and system installations.

  • Works with internal teams like Engineering, Operations, and Corporate IT to facilitate the proper implementation, availability, and operation of media management systems.

  • Assists with software administrative tasks, including managing user rights/groups, maintaining workflows, and configuring interfaces.

  • Contributes to quality assurance (QA) and testing efforts by assisting in the coordination, writing, and execution of test plans for software applications.

  • Addresses user requests and issues related to media management systems, directing users to appropriate support teams, or resolving issues directly when possible.

  • Aids in training staff on systems and supports the development of application support strategies and coverage schedules.

  • Supports the development of system monitoring techniques and reporting methods to provide issue notifications, performance trends, and metrics for management.

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Sr Director, Tech Ops & Software Eng and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by Manager or Supervisor as needed.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Media/Broadcast/Information technology and operations.

  • Proven experience with SOAP/REST APIs and scripting languages & a willingness to expand these skills in integration workflows is essential.

  • Prior experience in software development practices, especially for integration processes, is required.

  • Proven experience in enterprise-level Media Asset Management systems is sought.

  • Proven experience with Avid MediaCentral | Asset Management (MAM) systems, and Avid MediaCentral Cloud UX.

  • Exhibits a basic understanding in video production/post-production technologies, workflows, and systems such as Avid PAM and Telestream DIVA, Vantage.

  • Prior experience in Windows and Linux Server Administration.

  • Proven experience with Avid's SWoDL for MAM Processes and Python programming.

  • Exhibits a basic knowledge of relational databases.

  • Exhibits an understanding of storage systems, including Cloud, SAN, NAS, and LTO.

  • Exhibits basic knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/UDP protocols.

  • Prior experience supporting end users, including all levels of management with exceptional customer service.

  • Fluency in English (both written & verbal).

Desired Characteristics:

  • Prior experience with Microsoft SQL Server preferred.

  • Prior experience or exposure to VMware and other virtualization technologies is preferred.

  • Self-starter who exhibits ownership on assigned tasks and who will push for solutions that solve immediate problems while building towards long-term goals.

  • System thinker who understands not only how a code works and looks but also how it fits into the larger ecosystem of services.

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Ability to work with a team and collaborate with all levels within the organization.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to build rapport with clients and manage expectations.

  • This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee's residence.

  • Salary range is $105K to $120K
