MEDIA SPECIALIST, US AND INDUSTRIES

The Media team is a leading international communications team that conveys the Forum's mission and messages, and engages the global community in its work. We ensure the public awareness of the Forum's mission by enhancing its brand and engagement with the global public. The main role for the Media Specialist, US and Industries consists in creating media campaigns for the World Economic Forum's finance, investors, mobility, media & entertainment, and tech pioneer initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Write and edit press releases and other supporting media material, as well as provide contributors with feedback on their blog pitches, and edit draft blogs and op-eds
Pitch and send press releases to the Forum's media partners, including reporters at the country's leading media, as well as pitch and place op-eds
Pitch and co-write articles in response to news events surrounding the initiatives looked after, in collaboration with the corresponding Content Specialist
Track the outcomes of media campaigns, in collaboration with the Geneva based data specialist, and reporting back on the results
Maintain and building a network of US and global reporter contacts, and assist the US Media Lead in managing the editorial contacts at leading US media
Update important team documents, such as project dashboards and updating information in Salesforce
Provide project management support by keeping timelines; track actions needed to achieve milestones and objectives for the team
Excel as a coordinator, adviser and collaborator for team-led initiatives and projects
Implement a new team collaboration and database management process, based on the public relations tool Mustr
Establishing the organizing principles for setting up the Mustr database, including identifying the right domains of expertise (#hastags)
Mapping the experts journalists for each initiative, and creating their profile in the Mustr database;
Using this updated database to send targeted pitch e-mails for quotes and news
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Journalism, Communications or other related field, plus minimum 3 years work experience, or Master's degree in a similar field.
Experience working in or for the Finance, Tech or Mobility industry, with a fundamental knowledge of key financial, economic and accounting concepts
Thorough understanding of the US and international media landscape, particularly main news wires (Bloomberg, Reuters), leading legacy print media (NYT, WSJ, FT, Washington Post), and digital media (e.g. Business Insider, HuffPost)
Experience in drafting and editing articles, press releases, and other written texts for media use; preferably through an existing journalistic or PR portfolio
Active social media presence on Twitter, with LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram a plus, and a track record of published articles, videos or podcast, preferably in target media, or else on own channels (LinkedIn, Medium,)
Fluent in written and spoken English, other languages a plus
