Media Specialist, Test Development

Summary

This position reports directly to the Director of Media & Composition and is part of the Assessment Production group and will be in DRC's Plymouth, Minnesota office. Duties of this position include modifying

and maintaining test items and passages while adhering to and implementing DRC and client-/project-specific styles and specifications; utilizing the processes currently established in DRC's proprietary item banking system,IDEAS as needed, and follow graphic specific processes and procedures utilizing graphic software.

Position Responsibilities

  • Create images for all Test Development testing items utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Adobe Creative Suite knowledge, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator

  • Design all graphics for digital and print

  • Create tech-enhanced items (e.g., bubble input, drag and drop, hotspot, click to respond, layered input) for online presentation in INSIGHT

  • Use IDEAS and its related tools to maintain process efficiencies

  • Rework complex graphics while adhering to specific design standards and specifications

  • Collaborate effectively within the team and with other production teams and business units

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in publishing technology: art, design or graphic arts

  • Solid foundation in graphic design principles (typography, form, color, composition, grid)

  • Knowledge of layout, typography, and overall composition and/or publication style

  • Strong can-do work ethic

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances and direction

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly to diverse groups of people

  • Be able to work under supervision and to accept feedback

  • Work successfully and contribute both as a member of a team and independently

  • Be task oriented and focuseda self-starter who can meet tight deadlines

  • Be flexible and motivated to help with any task as needed

  • Report to work promptly when scheduled

Preferred

  • Understand CSS for online development

  • Experience with large scale assessment test design or document design

Reporting to this position: No direct reports

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8-hour periods of time

  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
