Salary: 190 Day Teacher Salary Scale The 2019-2020 salary scales have not yet been approved.

All new employees will be required to attend the New Teacher Induction Program which is scheduled approximately from July 17-23, 2019.

The Media Specialist is directly responsible to the principal. The Media Specialist must be able to perform tasks involving light lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.

Vision, hearing and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The Media Specialist is assigned the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities.

The Media Specialist shall:
1.) Order and process media center materials including books, audio-visual items, and instructional materials, and instructional equipment appropriate for the students in the school.
2.) Establish selection and ordering procedures with the approval of the principal and in accordance with the approved budget and system policies and procedures.
3.) Maintain and update the electronic circulation and catalog system, including the network stations and file services.
4.) Maintain the school media center as a resource center for the instructional program.
5.) Shall ensure that all instructional equipment, including projectors, computers, cameras, televisions, videocassette recorders, and satellite reception equipment, are in working order.
6.) Maintain an accurate inventory of instructional materials and instructional equipment.
7.) Submit such inventory reports as needed to the Principal or appropriate Central Office Administrator.
8.) Ensure that materials are properly marked in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate state of federal funding source.
9.) Inform and update the faculty and staff of the copyright laws pertaining to instructional use of resources.
10.) Work cooperatively with teachers in formulation lists of materials and equipment to be ordered.
11.) Plan with teachers so as to implement a sequential information access-skill program utilizing print, non-print, and electronic media appropriate for the age of the students using the media center.
12.) Work with the school Media Committee in reviewing any challenged materials in the Media Center's collection.
13.) Supervise the Media Center paraprofessional, when a paraprofessional is assigned, according to the school's role description for this position.
14.) Encourage distance learning through the use of programs via the satellite.
15.) Chair the school Media Committee.
16.) Chair or serve on the school Technology Committee.

If additional tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities are added to or deleted from this job description, this document shall be revised in writing to reflect the changes and shall be submitted to the Board of Education for approval.

All new teachers are required to attend the New Teacher Induction Program on July 17, 18, 19, 22, and 23, 2019. The Special Education Teacher (hereinafter referred to as Teacher) is directly responsible to the principal in the school (hereinafter referred to as Principal). The teacher must be able to perform tasks involving light lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Vision, hearing and verbal communication are essential factors in performing required tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The teacher is assigned the following tasks, duties, and responsibilities. The Special Education Teacher shall: * Implement approved procedures for the identification of students with disabilities. * Enroll students in accordance with state and local procedures. * Maintain a case load that does not exceed the maximum case load set by the State. * Work cooperatively with principals and their designated staff in planning appropriate activities for enabling students to function more effectively in the regular classroom and the school. * Participate in parental conferences when requested. * Initiate joint principal-parent conferences with the approval of the principal and maintain minutes as needed of said conferences stating the date, time, place, persons involved, purpose, and outcome of the meeting. * Implement record-keeping procedures and maintain inventories for all materials checked out to the Teacher. * Submit requests for materials and equipment to the Principal for approval and processing. * Submit to the Director of Special Education an inventory list of classroom materials and equipment at the end of the school year either during or before post planning week. * Implement the program for students with disabilities in the assigned schools and in accordance with system, state, and federal policies and regulations. * Work cooperatively with local school staff in identifying students who meet system and state criteria for receiving behavioral disorder services. * Provide services such as vision/hearing screening, educations diagnostic evaluation, observations, hearing aid checks as specific to a disability area. * Complete in a timely manner all reports, assessments, and forms required. * Conduct initial-and annual-review placement meetings for students. * Forward to the Director a copy of the placement meeting minutes immediately following the meeting. * Serve as a member of the Special Education Placement Committee within the school. * Follow all school procedures. * Take all precautions to ensure confidentiality for students, student records, parents, staff, and school business. * The Teacher shall perform routine lifting of students and personal hygiene for certain students as needed. The CDC Universal Procedures shall be used in handling any body fluids. If additional tasks, duties, and/or responsibilities are assigned to or deleted from this role description, this document shall be revised in writing at that time to reflect said changes and shall be submitted to the Board as customary for approval.
