Shrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Media Specialist for Oak Middle School, effective with the 2024-2025 school year. Oak Middle School is a thriving grades 7 & 8 school in central Massachusetts.
The Media Specialist will ensure that seventh and eighth grade students are effective users of ideas and information, and empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, and ethical users of information. The Media Specialist will work to instill a love of learning in all students and ensure equitable access to information, and will align the School Library Program with the mission, goals and objectives of the school and school district. This position will report to the Director of Instructional Technology and Media Services and the Principal of Oak Middle School.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Teaching, designing and assessing learning experiences that incorporate inquiry learning, critical thinking, and student self-assessment
Collaborating with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process
Promoting a love of reading and lifelong learning
Serving on decision making teams, school improvement activities, presents at meetings
Fosters a creative, flexible environment so that the media center is an essential part of the learning community
Cooperating and networking with other libraries, agencies, and media centers
Evaluating, promoting and using existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning

It is the goal of Oak Middle School that all students are prepared academically, socially, emotionally, and physically for success in high school and beyond.
Oak Middle School has a 1:1 iPad program for all students and uses Schoology as a learning management system.
The enrollment is generally 940+ students in grades 7-8.

Preferred:
Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in Library, all levels.
