Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of Media Services (MS) centers at the designated campus by allocating resources, providing media technical support, and training to faculty, student(s), and staff in the use of technology in classrooms, conference rooms, and special events.

Consult with clients to identify needs and assist in selecting appropriate equipment for the classroom, conference, webinars, performances, meetings, etc.  Ensure that equipment is correctly requested, distributed, maintained, retrieved, and secured after use.

Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.  Troubleshoot any equipment problems that might occur and ensure computers are at optimal performance by regularly conducting computer updates, virus scans, software installation or removal.   Operate a variety of audio, visual, and lighting equipment, and monitor smart rooms via asset management software, and evaluate and recommend hardware and software purchases.

Provide district-wide technical assistance and support to include but not limited to specialized equipment set-up, (Board of Trustee meetings, Student Government Association meetings, Distance Learning facilitation, open forums, teleconferences, etc.), adjust and operate equipment for special events on and off-campus, i.e., screens, mixers, sound systems, LCD projectors, microphones, laptops, etc.

Provide technical assistance and staffing coverage district-wide of the MS department as needed. Transport media equipment to other district-wide media centers.

In the absence of the MS department Coordinator, assist and provide direction of the overall operations and customer service to all clientele and staff at the designated campus.

Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the use of media equipment and technology-enhanced classrooms regarding the operation, policies and procedures, and when needed, media carts, clickers, presentation remotes, document cameras, touch panels, etc.

Perform departmental clerical duties and operate a variety of complex office equipment such as laminator, Thermofax, audio, and video duplication system, etc.  Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, schedules, and other departmental-specific records and reports as required, for LCD lamp hours, delivery and retrieval schedule, monthly production, and equipment usage.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.  
2. Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on the computer (i.e. identify file formats and convert files), and audiovisual equipment.

3. Highly effective analytical, time-management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. 
4. Ability to meet strict deadlines and effectively manage stress while dealing with time demands (i.e. last minute changes to setups, equipment malfunctions, etc.) and conflicting situations.

5. Experience providing effective customer service.
6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
7. Effective interpersonal, leadership, and team-oriented skills.  
8. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and students, and train on procedural and technical operation of equipment.
9. Ability to adapt and learn new technological changes in the industry.

Special Conditions:

1. The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part-time staff positions.

This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2023 to June 2024. After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.

Copies of transcripts must reflect completed coursework and conferred degrees. All academic coursework and degrees must be from an accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country (this is generally stated in the degree evaluation).

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by a current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework.

Applications containing foreign transcripts that are not accompanied with the above required documentation will not be considered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
