The Headlines:

Within a region this person will be responsible for making Local and Shopper Media a more impactful and fully integrated part of our holistic plans by providing media and marketing insight, strategic planning, innovation, and stewardship of a Region's media activity. This person is a passionate thought leader, focused on getting the most out of communication plans, and who understands the changing communications landscape. The role is the day-to-day media leader of a single region and single class-of-trade, and supports the Senior Manager in the overall activities of the Local and Shopper Media and Marketing team.

The Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and communicate a compelling media strategy which reinforces Category Strategy and brand initiatives in order to achieve business goals.

  • Demonstrate thought leadership by pushing for new directions and ideas that support local activity and solve shopper issues.

  • Interacts with field marketing, channel / shopper marketing, brands, agencies and media suppliers on a regular basis to ensure best thinking is brought to MillerCoors.

  • Analyze media effectiveness/ROI and productivity in order to ensure ongoing effectiveness and efficiency in media plans

  • Supports field / region to beat the market in terms of pricing, efficiency, and value

  • Ensure that media plans and key elements thereof are effectively communicated throughout the system to maximize market level results (eg: so that media and activation are aligned and used as a selling tool to distributors and retailers).

The Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 5+ years media experience with either other client side Media department or media agency

  • Knowledge of media landscape with ability to translate to impact marketing opportunities

  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity; persuade and negotiate effectively

To learn more, visit Job Title: Media Manager Job Description: Note: this role is based in our beautiful offices in the west side of Los Angeles. The Media Manager is the day-to-day focal point to the account. The primary responsibility of the Media Manager is to negotiate cost efficient schedules on behalf of the clients. Supported by the Associate, the Media Manager will coordinate all aspects of the buying process. The Media Manager is expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media buying space and available media research. They are also expected to be proficient with 360i tools (buying tools) and procedures (both Buying and inter-department). The Media Manager is expected to be an active participant on the business; consistently engaged and contributing ideas and insights that will benefit our clients. ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Media Buying and Execution: * Prepare reports for clients on national accounts (Tracking, GRP, Posts) * Ensure that DDS and GRP charts reflect most updated brand requirements * Communication with networks regarding client's scheduling * Ensure that move requests have been requested and are being followed up on daily * Organize all upfront information into summary documents (i.e. "Roll-Ups") * Analyze upfront plans, execute options and sell-off requests , negotiate scatter buys and prepare scatter buy recommendations * Ensure that allocations match flighting/$'s/GRP requirements * Prepare Monthly Spending Reports Client & Internal Relationships: * Maintain special client related projects (i.e. Marketplace updates) * Develop and maintain relationships with network sales executives * Assist in managing expectations of clients and deliverables * Assist Supervisor in advising clients on best ways to integrate media into their advertising and marketing programs * Assist Supervisor in growing business opportunities within current clients * Keeps up with the latest trends in media, programming and ratings May be responsible for informing team/client of new opportunities or issues * Participates and leads, if appropriate, face to face client and vendor meetings * Builds positive relationships with internal and external teams and sets good example for assistant level Strategic Thinking & Leadership: * Works with management team (Supervisor/ Director) to develop strategies for media buys * Shares new and relevant advertising opportunities in written and verbal form to the media department * Strategizes ways to most effectively use media dollars to the greatest benefit for our clients * Assess problems and concerns in a systematic, logical and rational manner * Proactively resolve issues, know when to and to whom to escalate * Instruct and develop Associate knowledge of television media, negotiation skills and DDS programs * Provide guidance to team members nurture/promote team environment * Assist in the training of junior team members * May be responsible for working with Supervisor to develop and oversee junior staff- manage time, assure projects are completed on time and adhered to (within) budget * May be responsible for constructing and delivering accurate, honest and timely performance management documents * Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them Communications Skills: * Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications * Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner * Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially * Assists in the development of media presentations and tactical POVs * Develops client reports that are clear, compelling and persuasive * Ensures key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's Degree * 1-3 years of media buying experience, including at least 1 year at the Assistant Buyer level KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES: * Thorough understanding of the media buying process, buying department and inter-department relationships * Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions * Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum * Strong analytical skills, ability to relate results to client business objectives * Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively * Media vendor negotiation experience * Working knowledge of DDS * Knowledge of media research terminology * Experience with online research tools such as Nielsen, @Plan, AdRelevance, etc. * Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) PHYSICAL DEMANDS and SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; bend and perform manual tasks.
