Overview

Camp Pinewood is now searching for a Media Coordinator!

The Media Coordinator is responsible for the capturing, editing, and posting of promotional photos and videos. As a member of the leadership team, they will also play a role in daily camp activities with responsibilities in various program areas.

General Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all campers and staff.

  • Establish positive relationships with each camper and staff in your program area.

  • Help campers and other staff members grow in Mind, Body and Spirit.

  • Serve as a role model for campers and other staff members.

  • Take advantage of teachable moments each day, to help campers learn character values such as Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility.

  • Provide a positive, exciting and fun environment for all campers.

  • Promote and demonstrate stewardship towards the land.

  • Attend staff meetings to discuss program plans, give input and voice concerns.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Capture photos and videos of daily camp activities and programs

  • Coordinate and take weekly "cabin photo"

  • Edit and produce slideshows and videos to be shown at camp, and used for outside marketing opportunities.

  • Edit and sort photos to be posted on website and camp social media

  • Catalog media in organized way. Show good judgement in curating photo collection to meet daily quota in quantity while also still producing quality images

  • With the assistance of Camp Director, help in creating social media posts

  • Assist with Check In and Check Out responsibilities, especially but not limited to, bus check in/out at Chicago Centers, Medical Forms, Medications, Snacks, Campers Forms, and organizing staff in day of responsibilities.

  • Assist in camp store with inventory, stocking, and sales

  • Provide leadership to staff through staff training.

  • Lead and run evening activities with the assistance of other program staff team members.

  • Assist with the collection of mail and make sure items are received by campers in a timely fashion.

  • Maintain high levels of safety standards and enforce all rules for campers and staff.

  • Maintain a positive attitude and refrain from behavior detrimental to staff morale.

Requirements:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the first day of camp

  • Relevant experience in photo and video work. Ability to demonstrate ability and provide examples of past work

  • Position responsible for providing own equipment for capturing and editing including but not exclusive to-camera, computer, editing software

  • Commitment to, and passion for, the YMCA of Metro Chicago's mission

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts and tailor communication to multiple audiences

  • Passion for working with diverse youth and ability to provide a high-quality of instruction using age-appropriate practices. Ability to observe camper behavior and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.

  • Proven ability to establish constructive relationships and interact as a leader of staff

  • Continuous learner who leverages opportunities for learning and applies new knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrates evidence of YMCA Y Team competencies in previous experience or practice

Child Abuse Prevention

  • Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.

  • Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.

  • Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.

  • Completing all child abuse prevention training as required.
