The Media Buyer develops and negotiates assigned Direct Response TV ("DRTV") schedules and manages the media buys to meet client specific performance metrics. This position's responsibilities include negotiating and buying national cable, as well as stewardship of local market DRTV buys executed by Active's Spot Market Buying team.
Support Senior Buyers and Broadcast Supervisors.
Negotiate and buy an assigned list of cable networks.
Provide diligent stewardship of all buys executed, including ongoing schedule revisions to optimize performance.
Participate in developing spec buys for potential new business.
Call sales reps for prevailing marketplace rates and programming schedules.
Prepare quarterly rate folders.
Maintain up-to-date rep list including name, phone, email and fax information.
Input direct response schedules into CORE system and into Active system.
Call for pre log and post log times from networks.
Download BVS (Broadcast Verification Services) into CORE System.
Run daily, weekly and quarterly reports and check for accuracy.
Prepare traffic instructions and verify with client and stations.
Participate in the reconciliation of vendor invoices and handle any discrepancies in order to complete necessary billing procedures.
Check contracts for accuracy and perform file maintenance.
Participate in and/or work on Ad hoc projects as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience is required.
Minimum requirement of two years of media buying experience, preferably in DRTV.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
Administrative experience in a corporate environment is a plus.
Proficiency in MediaOcean and CORE Direct media systems preferred.
Proficiency in PeopleSoft preferred.
This position requires regularly scheduled travel up to 10% of the time.
