Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, temporary (non-tenurable) faculty position (#144090) at the rank of lecturer for Interactive Media. This is a one-year temporary appointment with a possible annual renewal for up to three years. The start date for the appointment is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, professional interactive media practitioner teaching full-time creative, production, technical, and theoretical courses in its Interactive Media program. Applicants must be familiar with current industry tools, processes, methodologies, standards, and practices.
Required Education
A master's degree in media arts or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A bachelor's degree in media arts or a closely related field and ten (10) years of full or part-time industry experience in interactive media may be accepted in lieu of a master's degree.
Required Related Experience
Five (5) years of recent full or part-time industry experience in developing and implementing interactive media projects and content such as websites, social media, and mobile applications, as well as experience in content strategy, creation, and management as it relates to interactive media, is required.
Other Desirables
Special consideration will be given to applicants who have prior college-level teaching experience, extensive professional experience in interactive media, and working knowledge of the following: Website creation, both flat HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as content management (WordPress, Drupal, etc.); social media implementation and management in an organizational setting with sites and tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, HootSuite, etc.; UX & UI design, including flat and responsive design, for web and mobile platforms; production of interactive media content including text, image, sound, and video; reporting and analytics (Google, etc.); Search Engine Optimization; online tools such as Discord, Google Docs, Mailchimp, etc.; Adobe Creative Suite; HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery; and current programming languages such as Unity, Python, and others.
