Job Description

  • Architect solutions & provide optimization recommendations that drive results on client campaigns & objectives

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance in the development of client-facing presentations and results read-outs

  • Translate data into human insights and stories which drive change in digital marketing strategy and tactics

  • Oversee the coding of data extraction, transformation and models by associates in SQL and Python (R a plus but not required)

  • Quickly understand multiple data sources and develop methodology for joining data that will add value

  • Oversee development of custom performance reporting and analyses across multiple channels/clients

  • Partner closely with leading publisher partners such as Google, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter to take advantage of new measurement features and learning opportunities

  • Work with various internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner


  • 5 - 7 years of experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple digital media channels

  • Understanding of relational databases and audience based platforms

  • Experience managing a team of associates or other quantitative thinkers

  • Experience in additional Paid Search platforms desirable

  • Experience designing and measuring media- and audience-based tests

  • Foundational Experience with Mobile and Video advertising in Paid Social and Display. Exposure to Facebook and Google digital media platforms desirable

  • Experience in optimizing entire media plan is desirable

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, as this role is heavily client-facing

  • Strong problem solving and consulting skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics or related field required; advanced degree preferred

VIEW JOBS 1/14/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-13T00:00 The Democracy Initiative's Deliberative Media Lab seeks postdoctoral research associates focused on a) social media, b) cybersecurity and c) the global south. The successful candidate(s) will work closely with Dr. Siva Vaidhyanathan as well as faculty investigators and project staff in the Deliberative Media Lab. The candidate will contribute to our efforts to address one of the central problems facing democracy in the 21st century, as factionalism, amplified by social media, has made democratic governance difficult and has undermined democratic norms and trust in institutions. Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will contribute to research efforts, be responsible for teaching one undergraduate academic course per semester and assist the Lab with public programming. This position offers an exciting opportunity to immerse in implementation and dissemination of interdisciplinary and translational research on media and social networking. The candidate will start with primarily working closely with Dr. Vaidhyanathan on several projects related to the lab, assessing and analyzing the current state of media and prescribing technologies, practices and ethics that might foster and promote deliberation. The candidate will have the opportunity and flexibility to lead projects of interests derived from the individual interests related to the Deliberative Media Lab and Democracy Initiative missions. The candidate will be expected to work both independently and in a team setting, and be responsible for writing manuscripts describing their work, teaching and advising undergraduate students, and presenting at local, national and international conferences and seminars. Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Media Studies, Politics, Psychology or related field within the past six (6) years; excellent written and oral communication skills; a strong work ethic. Desired qualifications include working knowledge of Latin American studies and/or social media impact, as well as an interest in working with a multidisciplinary team of faculty. Notes: This position is based in Charlottesville, Virginia. The initial appointment is for 1 year, however, the appointment may be renewed for an additional year contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance. The position is available starting from August of 2020, but start date is negotiable. This is a salaried position at $60,000 per year plus benefits.
