GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
This position works as part of a team within the Advanced Technology Development department. This position is responsible assisting with material and process development, characterization, and system level integration in support of advanced manufacturing of additively manufactured functional components intended for extreme-environment use. This position is also responsible for supporting material and component performance predictions and measurement tests of developmental and production systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supports the material and process development, characterization and system level integration in support of additive manufacturing.
Develops material performance predictions and measurement tests for developmental and production systems.
Works in an integrated team to incorporate advanced materials characterization and modelling into deliverable products and aid in the assessment of system performance.
Generates research in business and technical areas
Assists in managing research projects of moderate size from initiation through machining, testing, analysis, and reporting.
Assists in the preparation, presentation, and follow-up on research proposals of limited to moderate size, scope, or duration.
Assists in the development of research findings, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations.
Recommends changes in procedures and devises new approaches to deal with problems encountered.

Review progress and evaluate results on research projects.
Prepares and presents reports to clients and the professional community.
Meets research goals within time and cost constraints.
Interacts with research scientists and associates in multiple areas of the organization.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications
US Citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET
Bachelor's of science in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, metallurgical engineering, etc.
3-5 years relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, metallurgical engineering, etc.
Prior work experience performing material measurement/testing, prediction, and/or design
Hands-on experience in the formulation, fabrication and application processes and integration methods for metallic materials and composites
Experience in coupon and system level mechanical test methods for metallic and composite materials
Experience with quantitative analytical techniques for the characterization of material properties
Experience in the application of Experimental Design principles
Active Security clearance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
