Mechanical/Compliance Engineer

Compliance Engineer with Mechanical Background ---Full-Time Direct Hire, Remote!

Akkodis, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Compliance Engineer for a full-time direct and remote role with a large leading employer. The Compliance Engineer will manage compliance projects for underground storage tanks and fuel systems, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor degree in Engineering along with being a US Citizen.

Salary Range: $65-100K depending on experience level, plus bonus and benefits

This is a growth opportunity offering excellent benefits and PTO, and remote work! Travel is required.

Compliance Engineer Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct field-based training for UST systems (UST Operator Training) and fuel leak detection testing.

• Develop training materials.

• Oversee subcontractor work and ensure high-quality deliverables.

• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and manage project budgets.

• Regulatory environmental compliance program development, audits, and assessments.

• Develop permit applications and compliance plans (SPCC, SWPPP, air permits, etc.).

• Regulatory reporting (RCRA biennial reports, EPCRA Tier II and Form R, and air quality).

• Compliance and rapid response testing of Aboveground Storage Tanks (ASTs), USTs, and fuel pipelines.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

• Knowledge in fluid systems is a big plus.

• Understanding of federal and state regulations governing fuel storage, conveyance, and dispensing is a plus.

• Knowledge of fueling systems preferred.

• Experience leading or supporting field efforts and overseeing subcontractors.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be able to work as a team member across technical disciplines.

• Willingness to travel out of state and may include international travel. Travel will be around 25-45% of the time, approximately twice a month.

• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
