DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Will perform mechanical and functional testing independently under the input from research and testing engineer. Testing will support design characterization, verification, risk assessment and supplier changes of orthopedic implants and instrumentation. This includes communication with multiple disciplines, knowledge of mechanical testing apparatus/methodology, and data reporting. • Independently execute mechanical testing to assess functional requirements of implants and instruments. Perform mechanical testing such as fatigue, endurance, static testing, tensile testing, corrosion testing, and load to failure. • Prepares test specimens and performs laboratory experiments per provided protocols (Instron, MTS). • Analyze data and using statistical analysis. • Writes protocols, reports and procedures. • Maintains laboratory records. • Ensures adherence to all company safety policies and procedures and other safety precautions within the work area. • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level. • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures. • Performs other duties assigned as needed. • Clearly and professionally communicate test findings, technical challenges, and proposed resolutions to R&T members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Minimum 4 years of related experience and technical or associate degree is required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS • Minimum of 2 years prior experience with lab test equipment (MTS or Instron) is required. • Ability to use computer and laboratory equipment and software, perform statistical data analysis and test results interpretation is required. • Ability to independently plan and perform hands-on lab work is required. • Outstanding communication and technical writing skills to communicate highly technical concepts and data to diverse technical and non-technical partners is required. • Knowledge of current ASTM/ISO test standards and ISO 17025 accreditation is preferred. • Basic use of shop/lab hand tools is preferred. • Familiarity with material mechanical testing is preferred.
