The long lifetime of these systems requires expert preventive and corrective support for the mechanical and RF subsystems that is performed at customer sites worldwide. Job description: Overview: The primary role of this position is to perform highly advanced mechanical and electrical assembly, alignment and testing of various precision assemblies, mechanisms, positioning and RF systems. The Mechanical Technician, Senior III position involves the assembly and installation of a low volume, high technology, high variation product mix, produced in a project driven build-to-order production working environment. Responsibilities: Fasten components or parts together, using hand tools, rivet guns, torque wrenches, and welding equipment. Positions and aligns components for assembly, manually or utilizing various material handling tools and equipment. Analyze assembly blueprints, schematics and specification manuals, and assists with assembly, wiring and/or machine building operations. Rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies. Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to specifications. Inspect and test parts and accessories for leakage, defects, or functionality, using electronic, optical and mechanical test equipment. Set and verifies clearance of parts. Set-up and installation of large bearings and slewing rings Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, indicators, spinning lasers and laser trackers. Assemble Microwave RF systems and circuitry. Assemble and install various electrical and/or electronic components where operation and sequence are specified by schematics, blueprints, wire lists, diagrams, verbal instructions and established operation practices. Lay-out, drill, ream, tap and cut parts for assembly. Remove rough spots and finish surfaces to fit Clean parts or components using hand tools and power tools. Perform Preventative Maintenance per instructions and update checklists. Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs. Fabrication of panels and structures, requiring material cutting, clamping, gluing, lifting, primer application, painting, and precision sanding. Work with no direct supervision in field installation scenarios. Creative approach to problem solving and ability to exercise good judgement. Training of JR. staff members on advanced assembly, alignment, installation and system testing. Required Skills: Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge of electrical troubleshooting – ARCs, IMCs, PMCs etc. Advanced knowledge of system level mechanical testing. Advanced knowledge of z-mapping & correction, planar, cylindrical and spherical alignment Basic RF level testing. Advanced knowledge of gearbox assembly techniques. Advanced knowledge of assembly tool usage. Advanced blueprint and schematic reading. Highly accurate record keeping skills. Advanced knowledge of laser alignment methods – spinning/tracker. Advanced system operation. Capable of solo or leading a team on complex system field installations and testing. Forklift, aerial device/elevated platform and rigging certified. Ability to manually lift/move up to 45 pounds. Must have the ability to obtain or have a U.S. Government security clearance. This position will require domestic and international travel, approximately 25% of the time. Desirable skills/experience: Set-up, operation and MDI of CNC machinery. Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment. MIG and TIG Welding capabilities. Set-up and operation of metalworking equipment such as milling, drilling, turning and grinding machinery to shape or fabricate parts. Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering background desirable. RF/antenna testing experience. Experience Level: 10 years minimum of machine building / assembly experience or a combination of applicable course work and job experience. Education Level: High School Diploma or GED Location: Greater Atlanta (Suwanee, Georgia)
