The Mechanical Technician is a vital part of the Falcon maintenance team. These functions include, but are not limited to, driving our company vehicle to and from various rig locations to deliver oil and conducting all vehicle maintenance and repairs as needed, maintaining the depot with all necessary parts and supplies, and conducting minor maintenance on all Falcon facilities and/or third-party facilities and will have the ability to perform mechanic functions.
Drives company lube truck to and from various rig locations in the tristate area.
Coordinates with lubricants vendor to fill oil tanks in truck prior to visiting rig locations.
Removes waste oil and solid waste materials from rig sites.
Follows the direction of the Maintenance Operations Manager to complete the repair of the mechanical systems and components of engines, generators, motors, air compressors, air boosters, and mud systems as needed.
Tests ECM functions using computerized test equipment.
Works with Maintenance Operations Manager to prepare requisitions for repair supplies as needed.
Prepares and submits daily paperwork of work activities to the Maintenance Operations Manager.
Maintains all required records and documentation of equipment repairs in accordance with planned maintenance system and to manufacturers' specifications.
Adheres to company policies, safe work practices and work requirements, including lock-out/tag-out requirements, confined space, working at heights, permit to work; etc.
Conducts safety inspections of all major pieces of equipment, making repairs, adjustments and calibrations as required.
Completes minor repairs to heavy truck systems as needed.
Keeps inventory of parts and tools needed for the company lube truck.
Follows DOT state and federal rules and regulations.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
Knowledge of basic diesel engine functions, computerized diagnostic systems, hydraulic system functions, and pneumatic system functions.
Ability to identify read and comprehend hydraulic and electrical schematics.
General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations/requirements.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizations.
Valid Driver's License, and CDL B with air brake endorsement required.
Responsible for staying up-to-date with DOT medical certifications and DOT drug testing
High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
1+ years of mechanical experience including experience with engine diagnostics is a plus.
Previous experience with air compressors and air boosters is preferred.
Proficient with computerized systems.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Self-starter with the ability to get the job done with little supervision.
Work Conditions & Physical Demands:
Ability to perform work outside with prolonged exposure to the environment, both hot and cold. Operations could also involve prolonged exposure to wet or damp conditions i.e., working in rain, snow and sleet, and heat.
Vigorous manual labor required.
Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 60 pounds frequently
Long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching or similar activities may be necessary in tight spaces as well as elevated heights.
