The Bernhard TME ("TME") Mechanical Professional Engineer is a degreed, licensed professional engineer with at least five (5) years of professional full-time experience. This professional will be fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area of assignments. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible to plan and conduct work requiring judgement in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Independently performs most assignments with technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval of proposed project plans. May supervise less experienced engineers or technicians while managing a specific project that is relatively small in scope. May be newly licensed as a Professional Engineer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • This Mechanical Engineer will be responsible to oversee the design of work that is compliant with engineering best practices, consistent with client requirements, subject to industry codes, and within project cost parameters.

  • Supervise Engineering Interns, technicians, designers and drafters to ensure that they perform in a professional and quality manner, while reviewing as necessary all designs and drawings for accuracy, and training when deficiencies are discovered.

  • The Mechanical Engineer will manage and report status and cost of projects and record all phases of the project in the Company project management software.

  • The Mechanical Engineer will at times be engaged to support team members by working on projects that are associated with Commissioning, Retro-Commissioning, O&M Training, or other disciplines that may support the success of Bernhard TME.

  • Coordinate with all engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Structural, Fire-Systems, Plumbing or contractors to ensure that the project designs are effectively integrated for each project.

  • Maturity in the leadership of Project Design supporting the drafting and design teams and collaborating with design Engineers from all disciplines;

  • Ethical and legal perspective that inspires the trust of others, and supports organizational core values.

General Education and Experience:

  • Requires a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Five+ years of experience, with a Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensee.

  • Experience with the design and build of complex facility energy projects, with knowledge of Central Plant and control systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
