The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia is expanding and adding positions for a Mechanical Production Maintenance Engineers. Position will be direct technical resource for assigned department with direct report to the Department Manager and dotted report to Engineering Manager. Position will work on projects or capital projects related to new or modifications to existing production lines. Will develop daily PM tasks and work for millwrights. Will develop and maintain oversite of PM programs such as oil sampling analysis and vibration monitoring. Will work with Department Safety and millwrights to identify, install, and maintain correct safety guarding, signage, and procedures. Will work with maintenance and engineering to update and maintain CMM software (Fiix). Will work with production personnel to constantly analyze production for opportunities to improve equipment and procedures for increased uptime.
Responsibilities
Working with department supervisors to provide daily maintenance and PM tasks for department millwrights
Help ensure that all pre-work safety checklists and JSA's are accurate and being followed
Oversee departmental mechanical PM programs such as gearbox oil analysis and vibration monitoring
Work with Storeroom/Warehouse personnel to ensure proper inventory and critical spares are maintained for new and existing equipment.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and projects for increased uptime and lean principles to meet KPI targets
Work with departmental electrical engineer counterpart and Engineering Department as the on the floor supervision for installation and startup of capital project equipment.
Provide frontline technical resources for maintenance and breakdown issues when they happen, 24/7.
Development of a job kitting strategy and process through collaboration with storeroom personnel in order to support improved efficiency in execution of planned work within the department
Work with other department engineers and Managers to develop and maintain ongoing training programs to improve skills and knowledge for millwrights
Provide system/component troubleshooting and root cause analysis investigation as necessary
Engineer, draw, and procure parts/equipment for modifications/additions to existing equipment for improved maintenance, uptime, or meet new production requirements
Qualifications
Mechanical/Industrial Engineering degree and/or +5 years field experience with comparable degree
Proficient with computers and strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with AutoCAD, Inventor/Solid Works skills a plus
The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
Strong mechanical and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of operation and troubleshooting of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Strong interpersonal skills to develop a cooperate work relationship with employees and vendors both internally and externally
Previous experience with inventory database systems and CMM systems, setup and use
Strong safety mindset and drive to improve and maintain safe work conditions
Proven experience in heavy industrial and/or automation environments
Must be able to move around equipment in a complex industrial environment
Must be able to regularly lift and move objects up to and exceeding 40lbs.
Strong working knowledge of applicable OSHA, ANSI, RIA standards for equipment and tasks in an industrial environment.
