Boston Dynamics, a leading developer of high mobility robots, and the maker of Atlas, Spot Mini, Handle and other innovative robots, seeks an experienced mechanical product design engineer to help with the manufacturing of these advanced robots.
We are looking for a Mechanical engineer with a focus on the design of mass-producible parts and assemblies. You'll work with a multidisciplinary team of robotics experts, electrical and mechanical engineers, and industrial designers to design and produce the next generation of advanced robots with a focus on bringing proof of concept machines to mass production.
The ideal candidate will have played a central role in the design, manufacturing, and fielding of a mass-produced product in the consumer, industrial, or automotive markets. Experience with electromechanical assemblies is expected.
Transition proof of concept robots through the ground up redesign in production processes such as molding and casting
Develop test plans and test equipment to verify feasibility and reliability of designs at all stages of development
Take your work all the way from concept to mass production
Create models, drawings, and specifications for parts and assemblies
Work with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners to develop manufacturable designs and scalable processes
Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, design and implement corrective and preventative solutions
BSME or MSME degree plus 3 years of full time (post-college graduation) mechanical design experience.
Advanced SolidWorks user, or equivalent (NX, CATIA, etc)
Plastic and die-cast part design and materials knowledge
Experience in mass production of complex electromechanical assemblies, DFM, DFA
Experience in failure analysis and reliability growth
