Overview Merrick & Company is looking to add a Mechanical Piping Designer to our current team of designers. We are seeking a Designer to support various long term projects that start immediately at our Albuquerque, NM, Aiken, SC, Los Alamos, NM, or Oak Ridge, TN offices.

The ideal candidates will have a passion for nuclear related design and problem solving. Job Description The Mechanical Piping Designer will be responsible for the design of the mechanical piping systems, complying with piping standards and accepted industry practices. Responsibilities include preparation of 3D modeling of equipment and piping systems and development of detailed isometric drawings from the 3D model and equipment layout drawings.

The designer will utilize CREO to design engineering drawings.

The designer will generate mechanical and piping deliverables, taking direction from other disciplines. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, the designer will be responsible for generating designs to meet exacting technical standards and meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications/Experiences Technical degree or Certification in drafting or piping design. CREO proficiency. Candidates with zero (0) years of experience in piping design will be considered.

Background in the development of piping systems design. Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design teams and taking direction from other disciplines. Experience in industrial or laboratory facility piping design.

Required software competencies include MS Excel, MS Word, and Bluebeam. Knowledge or experience in the use of national standards including ASME B31.3 is a plus. Proficiency using AutoCad and Revit is a plus.

Experience in DOE nuclear projects, particularly glovebox installations are a plus. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship. Ability to meet vaccination mandate requirements for Department of Energy (DOE) client site access for this position is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.

(BNI), Bechtel's government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.</p><p>UPF will be built by 2025 for $6.5 billion and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy's largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration's largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.</p><p>The UPF project has multiple work schedules that are subject to change and may require employees to work overtime, weekends and/or night shift when a business need arises</p><p>Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship in order to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.</p><p>Role Overview:</p><p>Assigned to the Construction organization in a Mechanical Field Engineer. Responsible for supporting Field Supervision and Craft personnel with material and technical documentation for permanent plant and temporary construction installations.</p><p>Responsibilities include, but not limited to:</p><ul><li><p>Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates engineering or construction problems with superintendents.</p></li><li><p>Interprets design engineering drawings and prepares construction working drawings for the use of superintendents as required, including:</p></li><li><p>Temporary construction facilities.</p></li><li><p>Field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing &quot;as built&quot; drawings.</p></li><li><p>Reviews design drawings, study Interference problems and reviewing related vendor drawings and installation instructions.</p></li><li><p>Prepares or directs preparation of field bulk material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials.</p></li><li><p>Tracks commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required.</p></li><li><p>Assists in coordination of vendor material deliveries, storage of materials, expediting and engineering reports related to the schedule.</p></li><li><p>Prepares projections and schedules for manpower, material and equipment requirements.</p></li><li><p>Prepares field change notices, extra work orders and back charge notices.</p></li><li><p>Prepares assigned Project Controls programs.</p></li><li><p>Reviews project controls documents on progress. Assures the project controls programs are fully automated for use in the field.</p></li><li><p>Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness.</p></li><li><p>Maintains records of costs and quantity information, evaluates data, prepares applicable reports as requested by project management utilizing established, standardized automation tools</p></li><li><p>Administers change notices and amendments audits contractor requests for progress payments.</p></li><li><p>May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel.</p></li><li><p>Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings and specifications.</p></li></ul><p>Basic Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Level 1: B.S. Degree in Engineering or similar from an accredited program and 1+ years of experience or 7+ years related experience in lieu of degree.</p></li><li><p>Level 2: B.S.
