Mechanical Maintenance Technician (Multi-craft) - Chocolate Bayou
LyondellBasell is searching for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) manufacturing facility located near Alvin, TX. Mechanical maintenance technicians are tasked to apply their mechanical expertise daily to provide mechanical repairs, perform preventative maintenance and reliability improvements on plant equipment and piping to insure the safe and reliable operation of the site's production line, and to increase plant on-stream time and reduce operating costs. This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.
Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

Provide technical expertise to assist in the installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of unit mechanical equipment. The candidate must have a working knowledge of equipment design and application for various types of machinery: turbo machinery, process pumps, reciprocating compressors, process fans, and rotary feeders. Working knowledge of laser alignment technology and application is required. Fundamental understanding of mechanical rigging in accordance with OSHA requirements is preferred. A working knowledge of mechanical drawings, P&ID's, and mechanical seal drawings is required.
Execute scheduled work by:
Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.
Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.
Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment.
Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.
Working with equipment owner to complete task in a safe and timely manner.
Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.
Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.
Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.
High School diploma or GED
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an industrial millwright preferred
NCCER Industrial Millwright certification, or, an associate's degree from an accredited college or trade school, or, a Millwright certification from a recognized apprenticeship program (at least one preferred).
Advanced understanding of turbo machinery, process pumps, reciprocating compressors, blowers, mechanical seals, and centrifuges
Working level experience in performing both conventional and laser alignments and in use of precision measuring tolls
Additionally, the candidate:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsored (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident)
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language with effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and work occasional call-outs, and works shifts, including weekends and holidays if needed
Must be able to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training and equipment)
Willing to work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting (up to 50 pounds); able to work in tight or confined spaces
Must adhere to all rules and procedures, contribute to a team setting.
Must complete tasks wearing required personal protective equipment which may include fire protective clothing, goggles, face shields, gloves, steel toe boots, hearing protection, respirators, etc.
Having had experience with SAP or other computerized Maintenance Management systems is helpful
Must be skilled in basic mathematics including first level Algebra.
Show a high commitment to their craft and willing to learn and accept new challenges.
Self-starter and capable of leading formal or informal work groups.
Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, elevated heights (above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders) and noisy areas.
