This role is responsible for insuring that the production department is supported with materials, packaging, and monitoring in an FDA manufacturing plant. Safety and procedures are imperative requirements without exception.
Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on equipment. Takes necessary corrective actions to maintain equipment within proper operating specifications.
Examines, tests and measures equipment for normal operation using gauges , instruments and records data on appropriate forms
Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of equipment, reports findings to supervisor/team. Completes appropriate documentation and develops a follow up action plan if required.
Participates and attends required training.
Inspects new and used parts to determine proper tolerance, wear patterns, etc., using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Makes repairs as necessary to maintain equipment per manufacturer specifications using hand tools and power tools. Must be able to operate hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
Operates lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools as required to make or repair parts.
Complies with all documentation requirements regarding processing GMPs, safety, housekeeping, environmental and sanitation. All work performed must be done in compliance with company guidelines for safety and environment responsibility.
Is able to operate within a team based environment.
Must be able to follow detailed instructions as well as work in a safe and responsible manner.
Must be able to function responsibly as part of a team.
Must by physically able to handle equipment up to 50 kilograms using available equipment.
RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND RECOVERY ACT:
Maintenance Mechanics have the potential to handle and generate the following RCRA hazardous waste streams:
Fluorescent mercury tubes.
Hologenated spent lubricants
Position Responsibilities- Essential
1.Demonstrates and applies all HSE, Safety and Quality aspects of plant production
2.Maintains a working knowledge of Process Instructions and maintains all required area training certifications.
3.Completes day-to-day Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) housekeeping of GMP areas to ensure a high standard of GMP accountability to meet both internal and customer expectations.
4.Maintains a working knowledge of current Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements.
5.Meets required packaging goals for plant manufacturing.
6.Performs all quality equipment checks and tests including X-ray and metal detector functions.
7.Maintains all customer-required production and packaging files and documents
8.Insures that all surfaces, doors, seals, containers, and other surrounding plant facilities are in acceptable condition.

Essential Skills and Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent
A full and comprehensive service mentality combined with team experience
An appreciable attention to detail and accuracy, and a sense of urgency
Two years' experience in an FDA production environment
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in an FDA/GMP production environment
Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on instructions and safety
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
Experience with FDA and other governmental regulations for a food-grade industry.
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
