Our paper mill located in Augusta, GA is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent. The preferred starting date would be October 1, 2108.

  • Responsible for the engineering and maintenance concerns associated with the mill mechanical systems.

  • Plans, directs and manages the organizational structure of the mechanical maintenance group to ensure consistency with strategy and long term goals of the mill.

  • Manages and promotes safety in the department to maintain the well being of the team and mill workforce.

  • Deals directly with other maintenance personnel as well as in the operating departments to ensure optimum use of technical and financial resources.

  • Submits and manages items in the capital and maintenance budgets.

  • Establishes and maintains standards for the areas under his/her control.

  • Development of staff (hourly and salaried).

  • Ensures compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining efficient heat, gas, water, and steam systems. An attention to detail and performance is a must, as you will design and oversee all tools and machines.</p><p>Mechanical engineers provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plant, machines. <br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p>Projects that mechanical engineers work on can vary significantly, from researching and developing medical products (such as mechanical hearts), to improving production processes in large oil refineries or designing services within buildings.</p><p>Across all sectors, your tasks generally include:</p><ul> <li>designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability</li> <li>developing a project specification with colleagues, often including those from other engineering disciplines</li> <li>developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs</li> <li>discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers</li> <li>making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments</li> <li>managing projects using engineering principles and techniques</li> <li>planning and designing new production processes</li> <li>producing details of specifications and outline designs</li> <li>recommending modifications following prototype test results</li> <li>using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design</li> <li>considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints</li> <li>working with other professionals, within and outside the engineering sector</li> <li>monitoring and commissioning plant and systems.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Requirements and Qualifications</strong></p><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology</li> <li>Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE)</li> <li>Completion of all Fundamentals of Engineering and Principles and Practice of Engineering tests, administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying</li> <li>Experience working with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)</li> <li>Experience with mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, LabView)</li> <li>Superior computer skills; well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly strong with Excel); ProEngineer/Creo</li> <li>Extensive knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)</li> <li>Able to create 2-D or 3-D designs to run simulations, analyze, and tests</li> <li>Able to provide leadership or mentorship among team members; provide support and encourages collaboration</li> </ul> Mobley Mechanical Augusta GA
