Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing on-site inspections of boilers, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation systems and other mechanical HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure the installation, repair and alterations comply with applicable codes.

Requires the ability to perform basic level of data analysis including the ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize and/or reference data, statutes and/or guidelines and/or group, rank, investigate and diagnose. ●Human Interaction: Requires the ability to persuade, convince, influence, train and monitor co-workers and others, in favor of a desired outcome. ●Equipment, Machinery, Tools and Materials Use:

Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or provide simple but continuous adjustment on equipment, machinery and tools such as motor vehicle, flashlight, and/or materials used in performing essential functions. ●Verbal Aptitude:

Requires the ability to utilize a variety of advisory data and information such as permit applications, blueprints, maps, street guides, inspection reports, violation notices, complaints, time sheets, equipment specifications, various codes, technical operating manuals, ordinances, procedures, guidelines and non-routine correspondence. ●Mathematical Aptitude:

Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; calculate percentages, and decimals; perform mathematical operations with fractions. ●Functional Reasoning:

Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems.

Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form. ●Situational Reasoning:

Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria. ●Environmental Factors:

Tasks may risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances. ●Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to lift ladders and inspection tools weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist and climb to conduct inspections of mechanical installations and equipment. ●Sensory Requirements:

Requires the ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds and odors associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.An Associate%27s degree or completion of a two year training program in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Technology from a recognized trade school or junior college; plus three years of experience installing, repairing and maintaining high pressure boilers and/or refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver%27s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver%26rsquo;s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request.
