Position Summary
Inspect plumbing and mechanical systems on commercial, industrial, residential propertiesand related structures to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations and ordinances; work with the general public, developers and contractors to maintain code requirements and resolve issues related to code compliance and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
High School or GED; and
Eight (8) years experience in inspection or installation of commercial and/or residential plumbing and mechanical systems, three (3) of the eight (8) years must be at a journeyman or foreman level or equivalent.
Education is interchangeable as follows:a maximum of two (2) of the eight (8) years experience required may be substituted by 60 credit hours of plumbing and mechanical field curriculum from an accredited college or technical school.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of aCity Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of certification issued by the State of New Mexico as a Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of hire as a Plumbing / Mechanical Inspector.
Possession of a national recognized plumbing and mechanical inspector's certification acceptable to the State of New Mexico within one (1) year from date of hire into position.

Principles and practices of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical inspection
Operational characteristics of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment
Principles and procedures of record keeping
Methods and materials used in the installation of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical systems
Principles and practices of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing and mechanical plan review
Advanced principles of mathematics including algebra
The application of advance mathematics, handbook formulas, tables and familiarity with technical drawings
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices, including personal protection equipment
Pertinent Federal, state and local laws, codes, ordinances and regulations related to assigned area of inspection responsibility
