Role description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. Mechanical Inspector will utilize their prior experience and expertise in MEP construction (including boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC, piping, electrical, etc.), asbestos abatement projects, and construction field inspection, management, QA/QC, and report documentation, to assure Contractors' compliance with project requirements, and positively represent Arcadis at construction sites on a construction project for a municipal infrastructure facility in the NYC Metro area. Inspector will work under the supervision of the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager.
Role accountabilities:
Will provide inspection for overall quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols, construction techniques and timely completion of daily inspection activities and will be responsible for inspection of materials used on projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and ordinances, on behalf of Clients and Owners.
Reviews plans for assigned projects, observes and inspects construction work performed by others and attends pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, and safety meetings.
Inspector will provide coordination of information both written and orally, to contractors, client staff, Arcadis staff, and outside agencies.
Will perform quantity estimates, and review of submittals and other construction documents.
Reviews submittals and other construction documents and recommends technical solutions.
Performs daily inspections, daily reports, punch list inspections, and participates in project schedule and invoice reviews.
Manages contracts, maintains quality assurance requirements and approaches, and manages field inspection and monitoring code compliance issues.
Uses basic knowledge of cost trends, change management, claims, and other construction-related matters to ensure compliance with project standards and those put forth in other contract documents for timely completion and quality product.
While performing daily inspection of active projects, Inspector will be required to ensure project safety guidelines are being met. Any noncompliant activities will be reported to the H&S Representative and/or Resident Engineer/Project Manager.
Coordinate activities by subconsultant performing asbestos abatement air monitoring and project monitoring and construction contractor performing asbestos abatement.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Key Skills and Attributes:
Experienced with construction inspection activities on small to larger sized mechanical facilities construction projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Primavera and/or MS Project and proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Position requires employee to work in various weather conditions, in potentially dangerous surroundings, and they must have the ability to lift to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree in Construction Management or Engineering Technology.
NYS Asbestos Project Monitor Certification
OSHA 30 Construction Safety Training
Confined Space Entry Training
4-hour scaffold safety training
AWS or NICET certification
In accordance with the New York City Equal Pay Transparency Rules:
Arcadis offers benefits for full-time positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401K plan, STD and LTD, and Life Insurance as well as some additional optional benefits.
Full-time positions also come with annual PTO days and at certain levels a bonus program may apply.
The Salary Range for this role is $93,000 -$144,000 for New York City-based positions only.
Other locations will vary in salary range.
