For our state-of-the-art direct reduction plant in Corpus Christi, Texas we are currently seeking a Mechanical Facilitiy Engineer.

Your Tasks

Under general maintenance supervision, the Mechanical Facility Engineer performs planning of repairs, maintenance, and construction of the on-site facilities as effectively and economically as possible while being consistent with plant policies, practices and procedures. The person in this position will constantly drive to minimize overall repair costs. This teammate will need the ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects that will ensure the division reaches its goals. The Mechanical Facility Engineer's tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Propose and control of the respective component of the maintenance budget

  • Monitor site, buildings, as well as mobile rental equipment to ensure optimal operation and reduction of planned and unplanned downtime (incl. preventative maintenance).

  • Ensure compliance with defined repair procedures

  • Develop detailed, accurate reports to provide effective management tools for execution and feedback

  • Ensures that quality, budgetary targets, schedules and environmental objectives are met.

  • Ensure updated status of plant documentation

  • Tracking and achievement of objectives with regard to KPI (Key Performance Indicators)

  • Processing notifications in SAP (tracking, reporting and closing)

  • Planning and scheduling of work scope for the shift crews

  • Detailing out technical work instructions and sequences for repairs and controls

  • Sourcing of material and spare parts together with planners / procurement

  • Safety instructions for work scope on equipment

  • Updating technical functions Locations in SAP

  • Latest valid revisions of documentation uploaded in SAP

  • Continuous adjustment of preventive maintenance plans

  • Reporting in SAP notifications of performed tasks

  • Spare part management for responsible equipment (BOMs, MRPs, material numbers, fabrication documentation, purchasing texts, etc.)

  • CIP process

  • Developing and calculating ideas

  • Execution and reconfirmation of savings

  • Reporting in existing CIP system

  • Supervision of voestalpine crews and contractors; verifying efficient and technical correct execution of work tasks

  • Conducting audits (safety / housekeeping)

  • Reporting near misses, spillages, incidents, accidents, leaks, etc. to responsible authorities and voestalpine departments

  • Implementing of countermeasures and improvements out of incident reporting, audits and near misses, etc.

  • Execution of all tasks following voestalpine procedures and policies

  • Execution of smaller projects or consulting capital project group in projects

  • Present in the morning meeting the status of all new (shift report) and ongoing activities from the area.

  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Structural engineering and a minimum of 5 experience

  • Good knowledge of local codes and standards

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and process flow diagrams

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)

  • Experience in Autocad (CAD)

  • Experience in SAP PM

  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), and withstand heights of up to 500 feet.

  • On call duty on weekends and nights are possible
