We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineering Technician, specializing in Test Execution work, to join our Experimental Mechanics Engineering Team in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Builds, repairs and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment.
Installs test article into test structure (test cell, table, rig, etc.).
Performs tests in accordance with set test methods.
Performs testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology.
Consistently provides accurate and reliable test results.
Has an in-depth understanding of the function of the test equipment uses it to perform test and can assess the contribution of the test equipment to the validity of the test results.
Configures and operates data acquisition systems; analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness.
Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and setups and the upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Provides support/recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates and instrument specification
Performs other duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Education, Licenses, Certifications
High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience
Primary Responsibilities:
This role will be focused on test execution in the Experimental Mechanics Lab at CTC. Technicians will collaborate with EBU Applied Mechanics engineers on testing needs in the various areas including:
Bolt Gaging (ultrasonic bolt load measurements, torque tension)
Bedplate (axial fatigue, pull to failure, torque to slip, bracket pull testing)
Fatigue (connecting rods, camshafts, piston pins, rocker levers)
Blockbuster and Headbasher test cells
Fuji Paper data
Accelerometer calibration data (including annual accelerometer calibration)
MTS 858 rig setup and operation
Quality
Follows all applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), poka-yoke, and visual standards.
Raises issues to minimize cost and quality exposures.
Performs quality inspections.
Identifies and controls non-conforming material.
Delivery
Operates manual and automated equipment to manufacture and assemble products in order to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.
Demonstrates a high level of competency in core work skills.
Achieves production goals.
Works at the required cycle time or defined engineering standard.
Maintains clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks, and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.
Remains flexible and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet production goals.
Works with peers, skilled trades, and support staff to maintain and identify equipment needing repair.
Teamwork
Communicates effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.
Completes training and personal development in line with business requirements.
Participates actively in ways to improve quality, safety, process, material flow, and employee development.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
