Mechanical Engineering Manager - Corporate Technology Development

This position will report to the Director of Technology Development in the Corporate Engineering team. This small team is responsible for pushing technologies from research into the development stage. You will be responsible for finishing research and developing small scale protypes to prove concepts that then be applies to NOV's technology portfolio.

This person must coordinate across business segments and understand marketing and engineering needs of these segments. They must them develop technical solutions and develop solutions that are practical and add value to our customers.

We work with Tier I universities, Research Labs, and Small/Innovative start up companies to advance their ideas and imbed them in our products. This person must be creative enough to see value in these solutions and technical enough to apply them to our projects in meaningful and commercial viable way.

This person must be an excellent project planner and be able to develop plans and keep to timeline, schedule, and cost. PRIMAVERA is preferred, but any project managing software is sufficient.

Job requires that the individual be able to negotiate with not only vendors but many entities to ensure NOV maintains effective supply relationships but also intellectual property rights, research contracts, joint ventures, and joint industry partnerships.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.

  • 5-10 years engineering work experience in design and developing new products

  • Professional Engineering Certification required.

  • Prefer that they have an understanding of modern advanced rotating high efficiency machines.

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, required.

  • Demonstrated ability to use advanced engineering practices and tools included to but not limited to Pro-E, Solid Works, Inventor, etc.

  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, required.

  • Proven leadership skills, required.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and effectively lead teams to success, required.

  • Must be able to obtain a passport for international travel, required.

  • Understand strategic engineering direction of the Technology Development Team.

  • Develop, implement and execute project goals in alignment with Corporate Engineering Vision.
