The Engineering Department is currently looking to hire a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the fall of 2018. This position will successfully assist the Engineering team with new product development, value engineering, warranty reduction and/or component consolidation project work. This will involve data gathering, data analysis, creation of project/test plans, component design, testing, and analysis of results.
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will also be assisting with day to day support activities and other Engineering projects including, engineering change requests, drawing requests, production support and process definition.
Tasks will include:
Support the acquisition, analysis and presentation of hydraulic performance test data.
Compile data and format for input to the DOE database and the pump selection tool.
Evaluate data from various prototype designs, analyse and develop comparisons and correlations to aid future designs.
Aid in the assembly, testing, calculation and staging of 2 new lineshaft turbines.
Short duration VAVE projects.
Quality and QFF participation and analysis
Job Requirements & Skills
Student working towards a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a sophomore standing or higher
Ability to work closely with manufacturing functions.
Test and evaluate returned products.
Solid working knowledge of Excel and SolidWorks or equivalent
Exposure to CFD, FEA or other computational software
Experience with pumps is a plus
Ability to multi-task and manage several projects concurrently
At the end of the internship this individual will have a thorough understanding of the manufacture, operation and performance of centrifugal pumps.
