To continue to meet our customers mission critical needs, Power Device Corporation(PDC) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Director to join our Engineering team. This position will oversee and direct mechanical and process engineers in all PDC locations. (Poway CA, Bohemia NY, and Isle of Wight UK)

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a department of state or commercial license.

The compensation for this role is $180,000-$200,000 annually.

The Mechanical Engineering Director has responsibility for management, preparation and coordination and of all technical activities on Mechanical and Process engineering aspect of a project. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable engineering practices and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between disciplines and all other project participants.

This is a working management position so the applicant is expected to have significant technical knowledge and awareness to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.

Responsible for managing mechanical staff, allocating resources, and directing the activities of other engineers to successfully execute projects. Create manpower workload. Mentor and train staff. Assist with interviews and evaluations of potential key hires.

Responsibilities

  • Drive methodology within the Mechanical Engineering group.

  • Prepare for PDRs and CDRs and be the main technical representative for the mechanical engineering group.

  • Communicate and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

  • Manage mechanical, Process, and Documentation staff, allocate resources, and direct the activities of other engineers.

  • Mentor and train mechanical staff.

  • Prepare, review, and oversee complete drawings and specifications

  • Travel 25% requirement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work expeience.

  • 10+ years of Mechanical design and technical lead roles.

  • Strong Knowledge of commercial, Avionic and Military design practices.

  • Experience with thermal and modal analysis using Solidworks.

  • Experience 3D modeling using Solidworks.

  • Experience leading other engineers, mentoring staff and allocating manpower/workload resources.
