The Engineer is accountable for ensuring the proper operation of all building management systems.

  • Inspects building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, chillers, and boilers to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule and keeping the building in compliance with city codes.
  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
  • Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
  • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Desk reviews of other contractors estimates/ Perform cost estimate for projects.
  • Critiques scopes of work
  • Interacts regularly with other professionals, including engineers, builders, architects and surveyors, and in-house project teams/ Interaction with building owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Writing and issuing technical and non-technical reports
  • Reviewing and performing building diagnostic tests

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field of study
  • 5+ year experience
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Electric commercial/residential (both high and low voltage)
  • Sprinkler/fire alarms
  • Carpentry skills
  • Knowledge of steam and hydronic boiler and piping systems
  • A good knowledge and understanding or reading blue prints, schematics and service manuals
  • Knowledge of NYC Local Law 10 or 11 highly desirable
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills
  • Attention to detail with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work independently when required
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence and integrity
  • Collaborative with strong focus on teamwork
