Purpose of Role:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for helping design and develop our market leading slurry pumps. They will be a vital part of the growth of the Weir Minerals product line, working on the mechanical design, structural integrity, and technology support while also tasked with developing new methods to improve cost, performance, overall product wear life and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus Area: Develop products and enhancements to help with the execution of engineering strategies, plans, and programs consistent with departmental goals.
  • Focus Area: Provide mechanical calculations, analysis and simulations from basic first principles following established design practices. Conduct FEA with boundary conditions and applied loads to confirm sound design and application.
  • Focus Area: Work from design concepts to detailed/final production drawings by producing 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings where necessary or applicable; using NX, Teamcenter, SAP, and related platforms.
  • Focus Area: Identify and ensure compliance to applicable standards, specifications, regulations and industry standards and ensure Weir equipment meets those requirements.
  • Focus Area: Collaborate with other engineers and designers to reinforce a team structured environment and develop technical communications to support business sustainability.
  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Engineering with a Mechanical emphasis.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience with engineering product design and development.
  • Experience with mechanical analysis of rotating equipment.
