Mechanical Engineer Aerial Refueling Equipment (Contract) job in Davenport, IA is available through Belcan.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Participates in designing and conducting analyses of mechanical aerospace & refueling products; includes performing static and kinematic calculations for sizing and function of mechanical components, generating and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics, and optimizing component performance.

Works within team to develop predictive component and product performance models.

Evaluates mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electromechanical components for compliance to customer and regulatory requirements

Develops test plans to verify models for component and product characteristics.

Self-starter that works with others to meet technical, cost, schedule, and other program requirements.

Works closely with suppliers on component and product development.

Interfaces with customers as part of development team programs.

This position will support activities to prepare for and close Critical Design Review (CDR), prepare engineering drawings for procurement, initial builds and testing of aerial refueling fuel system components and installations.


Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace) or related technical field.
2+ years post graduate engineering experience with design and definition of aircraft mechanical or similar components, equipment, and installations.

Must demonstrate previous aircraft development experience in design, sizing, and specifying aircraft mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electromechanical systems or components.

Must demonstrate ability in engineering design solutions compliant to customer and regulatory requirements for aircraft fuel or structural components or systems

Due to export compliance, must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful U.S. Permanent Resident
5+ years engineering experience with design and definition of aerospace or similar components, equipment, and installations

Experience with requirement compliance matrices and/or requirement verification matrices

Experience in writing test plans, procedures and reports.

Experience in conducting root cause analysis.

Desire to become an expert in aerospace component design and analysis.

Knowledge of ProEngineer/Creo

This position is located in Davenport, IA. Key Responsibilities: * Provide technical expertise to support Manufacturing, Field Support Engineers, and Customers. * Interface with procurement team and suppliers to solve problems and develop new sources for components. * Participate in integrated product development teams. * Identify, Design, Prove-Out and Implement improvements to existing products. * Design products and product improvements in Pro/E, or by working with Designers using Pro/E. * Evaluate suitability of current products for new applications; work with team to develop bids and proposals for new, modified, or upgraded products. * Evaluate proposed engineering changes for technical feasibility and effect on unit performance and reliability. * Evaluate discrepant components in production or from vendors to determine usability or appropriate repair or rework. Minimum Requirements: * Bachelors of Science Degree in an ABET Engineering Program * Minimum of 1 year experience with mechanical equipment. * This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelors of Science from an ABET Accredited Mechanical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering Program. * Experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving. * Experience with various manufacturing and assembly processes. * Experience with evaluating engineering changes for technical feasibility. * Internship experience in mechanical or manufacturing engineering. * Experience with Pro/Engineer software. * Experience in writing test plans, procedures, and reports. * Experience with interpretation of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, component drawings, and assembly drawings.
