Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and planning stages of machine manufacturing, whether it is following the specifications put forward by the client or a new internal project.
  • Implement electrical engineering principles to install and fix power transmission systems, heavy industrial machinery and/or complex heavy industrial equipment.
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify and remedy issues that arise once a project is nearing completion.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, as well as the Construction Engineers, Customer Service and Sales departments to develop the sequence of operations to ensure maximum efficiency is achieved on a daily basis.
  • Aids in Lab testing of new processes utilizing modified versions of the company's standard product line.
  • Will accompany the Sales Executives to client meetings providing engineering consultation during the development of proposals and quotations.
  • Prepares and modifies equipment operation manuals and parts lists as necessary.
  • Create 3D computer models of future projects for occasional larger scale assignments.
  • Review and oversee new equipment orders to ensure accuracy and timely acquisition of deliveries.
  • Analyze energy and economic data as well as general calculations, and organize and present the information to managers in a meaningful way.
  • Devise ways to improve efficiency by reviewing and analyzing the standard operating procedures; present information and recommendations for continuous improvements to managers in monthly board meetings.

Job Skills & Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5 years' of experience in the design/engineering of industrial instruments and heavy machine equipment
  • 5 years' of experience in design/engineering of power transmission systems, pneumatics and metal fabrication
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong design and drafting skills using CAD (Solid Works and ACAD
  • Experience with drafting software (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong computer MIS Office Suite and analytical skills

  • Previous work involving lifting and moving upwards of 10 pounds
  • Completed an engineering internship

This position requires the individual to be familiar with all aspects of the automation solution, and be capable of providing flexible automation recommendations for manufacturing challenges primarily in the metal fabrication industry. The ideal individual should have a diverse skill set with the ability to conceptualize and present customer solutions based on an engineering evaluation of the customer requirements across a broad range of welding applications and customer market segments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Assist Sales with customer inquiries to determiner suitability with our products and capabilities. * Perform positioner load calculations based on customer part and tooling requirements. * Provide customers with layout drawings of standard systems and robots modified specifically to their application. * Provide customer guidance with respect to product documentation. * Perform robot reach studies using Robotic offline programming (OLP) tools. * Work with welding engineers to developed cycle time studies for ROI and make 3D program simulations for use in sales presentations. * Support sales presentations on off-line programming benefits and capabilities. * Grow and develop our offline programming technologies & practices. * Collaborate with our Integration partners. * Responsible for maintaining revisions to our Robot and System Models used in our OLP software. * Develop positioner application documentation. * Participate in Voice of Customer (VOC) interviews. * Utilize the ITW Toolbox (80/20, PLS, MRD, USa) to drive innovation and efficient solutions. * Job is located in Carol Stream, IL* MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering * 3+ years of engineering experience * Solid understanding of engineering principles * Solid problem solving skills and understanding of casual relationships * Solid understanding of standards, procedures and practices * Proficiency in computer design skills and be knowledgeable in Solid Works, PDMWorks, COSMOSWorks and Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word Illinois Tool Works Aurora IL
