JOB SUMMARY:

To provide support to manufacturing operations for production of high-volume injection molded plastic diagnostic consumables.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production support

o Troubleshoot and resolve problems with production processes, equipment and tools.

o Coordinate with various departments to execute and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Production Improvement

o Address technical issues (i.e. tool, equipment, process, training, etc.) resulting in potential delays, and/or higher cost of production parts.

o Generate and implement sustainable processes using lean manufacturing principles to improve production process.

  • Failure investigations

o Initiate root-cause investigations, analysis and documentation of downstream production failures.

o Develop and implement improvements projects for production process, equipment and tools.

  • Provide information that supports manufacturing operations, such as performing historical data analysis, design, documentation, implementation and validation of equipment and process changes.

  • Design, develop, implement, and support both hardware and software systems used in manufacturing.

  • Actively participate as technical lead for assigned projects.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • BS in Engineering or Sciences, or equivalent experience

  • 2-5 years' experience in injection molding manufacturing environments.

  • Understands Lean Manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology (DMAIC. Kaizen)

  • Proficient in MS Excel.

  • Knowledgeable in the Injection molding process and has experience working with injection molding machines.

  • Experience with SolidWorks.

  • Understands technical drawings and GD&T.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in medical injection molding manufacturing engineering operations

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.

  • Sits/stands/walks 8 hrs./day.

Production Improvement * Address technical issues (i.e. design, mold fabrication, texting, etc.) resulting in potential delays, reduced inequality and/or higher costs of production parts. * Generate and implement solutions to improve production process and participate in kaizen tasks. Failure investigations * Initiate root-cause investigations, analysis and documentation of downstream production failures. -Develop and implement improvements projects for production process, equipment and tools. Provide information that supports manufacturing operations, such as performing historical data analysis, design, documentation, implementation and validation of equipment and process changes. Generate and or review work orders for tool component modifications. Maintain files of quality documents and records. (Inspection data sheets, forms, drawings, tool adjustments, etc.) Assist in creating SOP, Work Instructions and training. Perform administrative tasks, including lab organization, equipment acquisition, and experimental reports/presentations. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education or Experience (in years): AS/BS in Engineering Sciences, or equivalent experience 2-5 years' experience in a FDA regulated manufacturing environments. Plastics, injection mold making, molding project knowledge Knowledge and skills: Excellent knowledge of CAD software. (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) Basic understanding of Kaizen principles, quality system requirements and compliance issues. Basic understanding of product and process validation. Proficiency in Office software. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) Strong written and communication skills Good organization and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects Ability to identify and solve problems. Have attention to detail Physical requirements/abilities: Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
