Marlen International is a leading manufacturer of food processing equipment with continuous growth. We are looking for an energetic engineer with strong work ethic to join our product line engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interact with the sales staff to fully understand project requirements

  • Prepare formal equipment layout drawings for customer review and approval

  • Develop CAD models representative of the customer's order

  • Create engineering drawings utilizing GD&T

  • Transfer BOM data from CAD to the ERP system

  • Complete assigned tasks/designs within the required timeframe

  • Provide updates on project status and deliverables as necessary

  • Follow project scope and delivery expectations to ensure customer satisfaction

Sales Support: Interact with Sales and customers as needed for project definition

Service Support: Provide engineering assistance to service technicians and customers as required

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the design and engineering functions necessary for all product lines

  • Strong mechanical design comprehension and aptitude

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Extensive solid modeling background with preference on Creo & Solidworks software

  • Ability to use FEA software is a plus

  • Effective management and reporting of project timelines

  • Strong communication & documentation skills

Education and Experience:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • 4+ years relevant training / industry experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of control systems necessary to communicate design intent

  • PE is a plus

Software:

  • Creo

  • Solidworks

  • Syteline (ERP) is a plus

  • Microsoft project

Working Conditions:

The employee is often required to sit for long periods of time and use their hands and fingers in order to use computer equipment, handle paperwork, use the telephone, and work on product-related components. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate but can be excessive in manufacturing and processing environments. Vision abilities required by this job include color and close vision. The employee is occasionally exposed to mechanical parts, vehicles, and airplanes for occasional travel.

VIEW JOBS 1/16/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-04-15T00:00 POSITION SUMMARY: The controls engineer is accountable for programming of our various process equipment PLCs and HMIs. The Controls Engineer must be capable of applying knowledge to support goals associated with new and existing equipment controls projects from inception to final completion as defined by each project. Additionally, the Controls Engineer must be able to prioritize, focus, and work on multiple projects to successfully meet customer delivery schedules. Will be accountable to being measured for success with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in quality of product, quality of service, lowest production cost, talent development, etc. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Skillfully apply controls knowledge to solve problems related to equipment diagnostics and to offer solutions as needed to satisfy customer service requirements. * Standardize and implement best engineering practices related to human machine interface screen design and program source code design. * Work cross-functionally with other departmental team members to support the overall objectives of each project. * Convey a strong sense of urgency, anticipate and remove project barriers. * Create, diagnose, and logically solve control schemes involving high voltage power distribution as well as low voltage controls. Qualifications * Experience wiring single and three phase control panels, motors, transformers, digital and analog instruments * Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical is a plus but not required * 5+ years of PLC programming * Machine debug and start-up experience (i.e. tracing short circuit problems, conducting continuity checks, debugging program errors, making program changes to correct errors or to add additional functionality) * Experience with TCP/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, and Ethernet Networking * Experience with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC's and Motor Drives * Possess excellent analytical problem solving and troubleshooting abilities * Ability to handle multiple projects * Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Proficient at using problem solving tools, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective action. * 3-5 years experience in food and beverage manufacturing environment is desirable * 5-7 years of strong controls design and programming experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is often required to sit for long periods of time and use their hands and fingers in order to use computer equipment, handle paperwork, use the telephone, and work on product-related components.
