At Purple, a successful Mechanical Engineer will be a team player, able to manage detailed and time-consuming analysis of both structural components as well as manufacturing/process data. The Mechanical Engineer will be the primary lead responsible for all technical aspects of tooling and equipment based projects and actively collaborate with Project Management and Fabrication to complete Engineering Projects. The Mechanical Engineer will become intimately familiar with all Purple manufacturing processes and be able to make decisions on how to best improve those processes for the benefit of the entire company.
The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead engineering projects tracking tasks, schedules, deadlines and costs associated with their project. Be the technical expert on all related equipment and data
Provide technical and analytical support to the various internal teams and customers
Provide Process Engineering support for the various Production areas. Learn and implement appropriate Lean, Theory of Constraints and Six Sigma principles
Promote an environment of engineering rigor, discipline, informed decision making and enthusiastic problem solving
Create specifications for testing, mechanical analysis, cost/benefit analysis, drafting etc.. as needed
Assist Production in troubleshooting problems and producing work instructions as needed
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities;
Ability to work in a team environment and communicate well with personnel from multiple departments and disciplines
Strong understanding of statistical data analysis as well as the ability to differentiate good data from bad data
Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings/schematics, material specifications and equipment operating instructions.
Strong computer skills (Excel, et al.)
Ability to work in a high pressure dynamic environment, prone to rapid shifts
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
SolidWorks Modeling and Drafting
Will be required to work regularly from both the Alpine and Grantsville locations
Will periodically need to work solely from the Grantsville location as projects schedules demand
