Mechanical Engineer - Robots, Portals, Autonomous Handoff

Overview:

In this role you’ll be working directly on the robot or other physical system components. We're looking for talented hardware designers who are comfortable taking ownership of a project and having large responsibilities. We're an early stage startup developing an ambitious hardware product, so naturally there's quite a bit of mechanical work to be done. This does not mean we want someone who can come and work 80 hour work weeks — quite the opposite really. We want high-level performers who think creatively, are intentional about where they spend their effort, and know how to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Requirements:

• Experience with robotics, control systems, and/or mechatronics
• Deep experience with any CAD platform (Onshape preferred but not required)
• Deep understanding of multiple manufacturing methods and how to design for them
  • Most of our products are made from sheet metal
• A solid understanding of core concepts, including: mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, etc.
• Experience with linear or rotary motion systems
• Experience with FEA
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities:

• Performing a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture & implement)
• Designing parts, sub-systems, or entire products (depending on scope/size of product)
• Utilizing multiple engineering disciplines throughout the design process
• Collaborating ideas for ways to improve the product, and executing them
• Testing & evaluating theoretical designs
• Working with contract manufacturers to produce components
• Working with vendors to source components
• Performing FEA analysis on designs
