Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a Mechanical engineer to join our Raleigh office. The Mechanical engineer will perform engineering duties in planning and design utilizing technical analysis.

Duties and responsibilities:

Conduct technical analysis - the candidate will be expected to complete fundamental mechanical engineering technical analysis tasks such as:

  • Hydraulic modelling and analysis of oil & gas transmission systems, as well as utility (water / sewer / stormwater) systems. Experience in industrial complex and / or marine terminals is a plus

  • Piping and pipelines stress analysis using Caesar

  • Develop design documents - the candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of design documents (plans and specifications), with an emphasis in utility service design, engineering / design for waterfront facilities such as marinas, container terminals, marine oil terminals, and pump stations (sewer and storm water).

  • Generate proposals and develop fee estimates for PS&E packages.

  • Conduct condition assessment inspections for oil & gas, and utility infrastructure

  • Minimum 5 15 years experience.

  • Professional Engineering License in mechanical engineering required

  • Background or experience in piping design, particularly 3D piping design using either Plant 3D or PDS

  • General understanding of process design, process flow diagram development, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development
