Mechanical Engineer
We are currently in search of a Mechanical Engineer to join our Research and Development department of the Marquardt Group in our location Rochester Hills (USA).
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design of new switches and switching systems. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designs and design changes from new concept to production. This position will require a CAD skill set including 3D Modeling, GD&T, and FEA. The ideal candidate will be versed in Siemens NX, as the preferred CAD software, and CATIA V5.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform preliminary design and develop drawings and specifications necessary to support the development of new products and modification of existing products.
Develop product design, drawings, and specifications necessary to support production equipment and component tooling development and modifications to improve safety and reliability.
Develop mechanical engineering requirements based on the system level specification.
Perform complex calculations to determine performance analysis, stress analysis, etc.
Perform testing and evaluation of theoretical designs; recommend modifications based on results.
Serve as technical resource for assigned new and existing products, equipment, and tooling.
Develop program schedules and timelines and coordinate product implementation utilizing both internal and external resources.
Research solutions to technical problems and recommend cost effective resolution approaches.
Develop and assist in customer presentations related to new product development and/or product modifications and enhancements.
Participate in large engineering projects by completing multiple tasks.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
3+ years of related experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in automotive or aerospace industries.
Computer skills, including the use of CAD software
Understanding of manufacturing processes, including extensive knowledge of plastic materials and plastic injection molding processes
Understanding of quality tools, including the DFMEA process, DFM, and problem solving techniques.
Basic management skills, including planning and organization, decision making, problem solving, and project management.
Advanced mathematical skills, including the use of logarithms and quadratic equations.
Advanced verbal communication skills, including group presentation.
Ability to coordinate with remote team members (mechanical engineers, designers, simulation analyst, etc..) to complete the product development.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees.
Ability to prepare complex written reports and other documents.
Ability to comprehend complex verbal and written instructions.
